Kodak PlayTouch
Kodak's latest take on the pocket camcorder craze is the PlayTouch, which features VGP-BPS13 a 3-inch touchscreen that lets your loved one view clips and change settings with the swipe of a finger. Users can also trim footage right on the VGP-BPS13A/B device, as well as extract still images from videos. Along with capturing full 1080p HD video, the PlayTouch is web-friendly, letting users share clips on Facebook, Flickr, or YouTube with the touch of a button. The camcorder records videos and 5-MP stills to SD/SDHC memory VGP-BPS13/B cards. To better see the 3-inch touchscreen and tweak videos on the spot, the PlayTouch's LCD screen has an anti-glare VGP-BPS13B/B shield.


Multitasking
This is perhaps the most anticipated feature of the iOS 4.2 update, allowing you to have more than VGP-BPS13A/S one app running at a time. Now, you no longer have to, say, quit streaming Pandora in order to check your e-mail. Double-tapping the VGP-BPS9 Home button replaces the dock with a row of icons showing the apps currently running. A quick tap on an icon opens that app; pressing and holding allows you to close apps.

This feature worked well, and we noticed little, if any, slowdown with multiple apps running. We were able to listen to our tunes while VGP-BPS8 checking out friends in the Friendly app, browsing the web, or reading news in the New York Times app. However, not all apps can run in the VGP-BPS9A/B background. Our song halted when trying to edit a Google doc in the Google Mobile App; strangely, we didn't encounter the same VGP-BPS9/B issue when we edited the Google Doc using the Safari browser.

Panasonic HDC-SDT750
Your budding filmmaker can channel her inner James Cameron and shoot her own mini-Avatar with the HDC-SDT750, which VGP-BPS9/S Panasonic bills as "the world's first consumer 3D camcorder." The key to the HDC-SDT750 isn't the VGP-BPS8A camcorder itself, it's Panasonic's 3D conversion lens, which records in 3D and lets her play it back via an HDMI cable connection to 3D-compatible TVs. Without the 3D lens, the HDC-SDT750 shoots in full 1080p HD video in the VGP-BPS2 AVCHD format.
