Wienzeile, a literature magazine coming out in Vienna, Austria, with entries in Chinese, English and German. Lots of new literature by Hsia Yu 夏宇、Yan Jun 顏峻、Hung Hung 鴻鴻、Zheng Xiaoqiong 鄭小瓊、Yu Jian 于堅、Ma Lan 馬蘭、Qi Ge 七格、Wu Yinning 吳音寧、Lin Weifu 林維甫、Pang Pei 厖培、Liao Yiwu 廖亦武 and many others.

at least the road

we haven’t climbed the tower yet
and haven’t seen the old big church
they only let you in at times
with tours in Czech. That’s quite ok
but we were hungry yesterday.

this is a very special town
the Jewish side is well preserved
the church is big. you should go in
and under ground. and in the back
behind the altar, painted walls
and ceiling, 13th century.
St. Procop is the guardian
subdues a Vulcan, chained and black.
it all ends here. that’s what they say
for harry potter, in 3D.
the alleys right behind the square
have dramas with the local gangs.
don’t worry, there’s enough police.

the railway bridge, the cemetery
the hills around this scarred old town
the swallows in the corridors
the traveller’s inn, in Znojmo too
the walls of Jevi?ovice
Hlubok? Ma??vky and such
the venus and the pottery
well worth a visit, everything.

貝嶺11月3日晚乘國航（Air China）CA932班機由法蘭克福飛北京，在北京機場班機艙口被逾20名機場警察守在艙口扣押，警方攝影機全程錄影。在押往機場內一處扣押，兩小時後，警方對他宣?，接到北京高層命令，禁止他轉乘己持登机?的下午兩點的國舵CA189轉機台北，將他強送至北京飛法蘭克福國舵CA931班機，遺返法蘭克福。
警方以威嚇及有所克制的強制行為將我押上首都機場的警方面包車，在被近20名警察押至返法蘭克福班機過程中，貝嶺被警方推押上車過程中，腰脊受傷，在飛機上症狀更嚴重，現急返Bonn波恩（波昂）��國友人家臥床，暫無法至台灣，參加東吳大學國際研討會及受任台北市駐市作家一職。
目前，貝嶺的一件托運行李在北京機場被警方扣留未還，箱內有我將在明年夏天在Suhrkamp出版的文學回憶錄部?手稿及《劉曉波回憶錄》3-5章修訂稿。

On November 3rd, I wanted to fly from Frankfurt to Taipei, via Beijing. Last year, they had given me a hard time there at Beijing Airport, because although I had been imprisoned for printing a magazine and deported from China in 2000, I wanted to use the time between the flights to go out into the city, as other passengers did, and visit my parents. Last year I was held by police and escorted to the plane going to Taipei. But this time, at the arrival of my Air China flight CA 932, I was received at the hatch by 20 police officers and taken to an empty room at the airport. One of them had brought a camera and was filming the whole process. After two hours, they told me they had received an order from someone high up in Beijing. I was forbidden to take the ongoing Air China CA 189 flight at 2 p.m. to Taipei. They had orders to put me back on the next flight to Frankfurt, Air China CA 931. They shoved me into a van and brought me back to the plane. While these 20 policemen all tried to work together shoving me around, my lower back was injured. It became much worse on the flight back to Frankfurt. My baggage was taken away by police in Beijing. Inside were mostly manuscripts for two books. One is my writing about the underground and exile literature, it will be published by Suhrkamp in Germany next summer. The second book is a personal biography of Liu Xiaobo, drawing on our times together and the recounts of many friends from the protests in 1989 and later.
