Live at Ward's Rafter Irish band MArch 16th FRIDAY

"THE IRISH ARE COMING" We're being happily "inundated "here at Wards Rafters on
FRIDAY Evening, March 16th by THE CELTIC WAVES !

This IRISH BAND plays traditional and contemporary folk music from Ireland and Scotland
with a lively blend of mostly Jigs, Reels, Hornpipes and Songs with an occasional Slow Aire.
Folks, this will be an evening of FUN and we're all expected to take an active part in it....
You're advised to be ready to Clap Hands, Tap Feet, Whoop, Holler and Sing Along!
After all, even though we're not all Irish - the Spirit of the coming St. Patrick's Day,
imbues New York Jews like me with the joy of celebrating our common Humanity!
This is REAL People's music and in a world of increasing commercial trash, we can happily
revel in the vitality of this musical genre! So here's the Band.......

KEVIN CRAVEN, Fiddle...Classically trained, this is the music he Loves! Started out at
the age of 3 and took on the Viola by age 13, he has Symphony and theater experience.
And he's very Irish at heart!
CLARK RATLIFFE, Irish Flute and Whistles.....Learned at the knee of his
Uilleann Pipe-Playing Grandfather, he started out playing the penny whistle and grew into
the Piano, Sax and a dozen other instruments. (His day job - Professor at UH School of Nursing)......
KATIE McCLELLEN, Irish Harp, Mandolin, Vocals. Another one who also plays piano and clarinet
and has gone from classical to folk music Presently a Masters candidate at UH Ethnomusicology Dept.,
she works at Hawaii Public Radio.......
LAWSON CANNON, DC, Guitar, Bouzouki, Vocals. Another child prodigy, teacher, writer....he's just as
good a Chiropractor as he is an inspired musician (with a real Irish soul).
And lastly, this happy band of minstrels boasts the infectious Rhythms of -
SUSAN REINHART, Percussion (Bodhran, African Djembe, etc).Another one who started out on Piano.
And now she's properly hooked on the Irish experience.
