英語備忘録 12

相変わらずの英語勉強、なかなか思ったようにははかどりません。
しかし、以前よりは確実に上達しているという実感はある。語彙も増えつつある。
この調子で地道に頑張っていこう！って、ものすごく地道だけど。。。


FRIENDS 3-8より。

◆ネズミが難破しそうな船を見捨てるといわれていることから来た表現。

Maybe it's because I was just fooling around with my ex.

fashion 「〜を形作る、〜を作り出す」
Well, we're fashioning a very long poking device.

serve someone right「当然の報いとなる、自業自得だ、いい気味だ」
'She kicked me!' 'Serves you right, teasing her like that.'

bow out 「退場する、辞任する、身を引く」
if it was me, I would ah, I would bow out.

I mean, no offense, I've always thought of Ben as a fairly bumpy-headed child.

Forget what I said! I was babbling!

A naked man's life hangs in the balance.

thread the needle 「困難なことを成し遂げる、針に糸を通す」
