The Family History Part 5
On Feb. 2010, Takahiko was on the rink of Vancouver Olympics.
He was able to land his quadruple which was pledge to his grandpa and placed 8th.
Mitsuhiko,94 y-o, was watching his skating on TV.
He moved to tears by his grandchild’s performance.
The skating that my grandpa learned (in Manchurian) and treasured for a long time
handed down to here and now, and it become the base of my own skating.
I feel the long history which I must treasure.
People often called me “Thoroughbred” and I shouted in my mind “I’m not a horse!”.
The thing I inherited, not a simple matter like blood, should be handed down.
There must be things that only Kozuka can convey.
The popular sports people enjoy playing are soccer and baseball, now.
I hope I can tell that figure skating is very fun to do as well as to watch.
In Aug. 2009, Mitsushiko got a phone call.
That is from Hatsuko Seto who skated with him in Manchurian.
(She changed her surname Terashima to Seto with her marriage)
She saw Takahiko’s activity and then she thought he might be a relation of Mitsuhiko.
She tried to contact Mitsuhiko through JSF.
Her voice after 70 years absence just brought back his memories.
“I want to meet you, Hatsu-chan! Wanna meet you again!” He repeated.
However, he was not able to keep the promise.
Mitsuhiko passed away in July 2011.
One year later, in July 2012, ,Hatsuko went to the rink to see the ice show.
She saw Takahiko before her eyes for the first.
Takahiko went to see her after the show.
Hatsuko: Wow! Tears are coming out. You did it. Congrats!
Meeting again to Hatsuko that Mitsuhiko couldn’t do.
The pictures that grandpa took in 75 years ago.
Taka: I see them for the first.
Hatsuko: Mitsuhiko kept shooting only me.
Taka: My grandpa would have loved Seto-san (Hatsuko).
Hatsuko: (If I were a little older at that time) I would have become Kozuka (married with him).
Taka: So then I might have been your grandchild!
hatsuko: Should just focus on Olympics. Keep going. Have confident!
Your grandpa and I and many people are always beside you!
Sochi Olympics which Takahiko aims at will come two years later.
After the scchool, many children come to rink.
There are 300 students in Nagoya skating center.
The figure skating Kingdom Aichi. Olympics skaters in future are practicing for their
Girl: My dream is to participate in Olympics.
Girl:I aim at becoming an Olympics medalist.
Mitsuhiko contributed an article to the magazine at a year before his death.
I was able to jump only single axel at the rink in Manchurian, but now, Takahiko can jump quadruple.
Many top skaters have appeared one after another from Japan.
The dream I had in Manchurian have been achieved, beyond the range of the descendant.
Taka: I wish to tell the feeling of “I love skating” without forgetting.
Special thanks: The blog 右月左月. I learned Pissev and Mitsuhiko's relationships at there.
