猿婿 (民話)
「猿婿」という民話を聞いた（ラジオＮＨＫ Japan & World Update ）。
むごい話で驚いた。今まで知らなかったことにも驚いた。
ある老人が畑を耕していて、あまりにも大変なので、「誰か代わりに耕してくれる人がいたら、娘を嫁にやるのに」とつぶやいた。それを猿が聞いていて、「本当か」と念を押した上で畑を耕し、娘を嫁にもらう。老人には 3 人の娘がいたが、上の二人は拒否し、末娘が同意し、猿と山に入る。里帰りしていいということになり、娘は猿にもちをつかせ、もちを入れた臼を背負わせて山を降りる。途中で娘は崖に咲く桜の枝がほしいと言い、猿は娘の言いはるとおり臼を背負ったまま、木に登り、娘の指示する枝をとろうとし、枝が折れ、川に落ちて死ぬ。娘は家に戻り、幸せに暮らした。
