温故知新

『我々は、現代を人類史上、最高の時代にする力がある。が、一方で、史上最後の時代にもできるのだ。』

地球温暖化，人口爆発，核拡散，民族紛争，テロ 等々、人類にとって、負の状況が
継続しています。人類の未来は、今のままでは決して明るくないように思われます。
“Some men see things as they are and say why.
　　　　　　　　　　　　　I dream of things that never were and say why not.”
（ある人は、現状を見て、なぜそうなのか、を語る。私は、存在しないものを夢見て、
　　　　　　　　　　それがなぜ存在しないのかを語ろう。）
“Our problems are man-made; therefore, they can be solved by man.
　Man's reason and spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable.
　I believe they can do it again.”
（我々の持つ問題は人間が作り出したものだ。それ故、それらは人間が解決できる。
　人間の理知と精神は、解決不能と思われることもしばしば解決してきた。
　またそうできると私は信じる。）
“Ask not what your country can do for you, 
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　but what you can do for your country.”
（国が貴方に何ができるか、ではなく、
　　　　　　　　　　　　貴方が国のために何ができるか、を問うてみよう。）
“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.”
（目的と方針がはっきりしていなければ、努力や勇気だけでは十分とは言えない。）
“The only unchangeable certainty is that nothing is certain or unchangeable.”
（唯一不変の確かなことは、「確実で不変なものはない」ということだ。）
“All of us do not have equal talent, 
　but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.”
（我々全てが同じ才能を持っているわけではないが、
　　　　　　　　　全ての人がその能力を磨く、等しい機会を持つべきである。）
