今週は９日にレバノンからRが戻りました。まだ電気は復旧していない不自由な暮らしだけど、一月一緒だった優しい家族たちと離れてRは最初ホームシックにかかりました。帰国した日は赤飯を炊いてお祝いしたので、その後持ち直してから、レバノンの料理を作ってくれた時の写真が１枚目です。今彼女はラマダーン（イスラム教の断食）の最中なので、日没直後からスープとパンとサラダと魚を食べるのがラマダーンメニューなのだそうです。この日もレンズマメのスープに、にんにくをたっぷりからめたサラダ、ゴマのペーストとオレンジジュースとレモンでつくったソースでたらとギリシアのパンをいただきました。テーブルの上の３人分のランチョンマットは日本の友人が紬の反物でつくってくれたものです。
２枚目の写真は、すりこぎのお国振り。向かって左からオーストリア、日本、レバノンからそれぞれ持参したものです。オーストリアの伝統のものは金属製だそうですが、これは大理石でできた重たいものです。私は和え物に、他の二人はにんにくをつぶすのによく使います。
３枚目の写真は、オーストリアのFの部屋にある不思議な空間です。写真を撮らせてと頼んだら、次のような長文の説明つきで自分の撮った写真を送ってきてくれました。Fは小学校低学年の時に、同級生の男の子が可愛がっていたペットが死んだけど動物は昇天しないので、再会もできないというカソリックの教義に疑問を持ち始め、その後学校の宗教の授業にも一切出席せず、やっとたどり着いたのが、土着信仰とでも言うべきものだそうです。ちょっと長いけど、彼女にとっても外国語の英語でやさしい表現です。ところどころ日本語を挿入してありますので、トライしてみてください。（彼女の不思議空間の中に一つ日本のものがあります。赤い敷物は日本の友人から彼女へのプレゼント、風呂敷です）
So I try to explain the meaning of the goddesses （女神たち）and symbols in my corner. I made the two statues and the symbols myself, because I believe this gives them some of my personality and strength(二つの像とシンボルを自分でつくることで、私の個性と強さのいくばくかを授けることが出来ると信じている). Like a gift to the goddess. I believe that the creator of the world must have been female（世界の創造主は女性だったに違いない）, because only women can give birth. Therefore, there are only goddesses on my table.
The large brown one is a 'Sheila na Gig', an ancient Irish/British goddess, which funnily can be found on very old churches（左側の大きな茶色の像は古代アイルランド/ブリテン島の女神シエラ、何故かとても古い教会で見つけることができる）. The exact meaning was never discovered, so it leaves a wide space for imagination. She is pictured, showing her vulva (外陰部). This is a symbol for her dealing both live and death out of her uterus（子宮）. She stands for change and regeneration(変化と再生の象徴). I also like her, because she is obviously not ashamed of being female (女性であることを全く恥じていないところも好き). And this is something every woman should remind herself daily: to be proud of being a woman. Although both sexes are the same, it is still happens that men (and even women themselves) look down on women. This is what I stand against, and for me the Sheila stands for the power of women（女性を卑下する見方に反対する私にとってシエラは女性の力の象徴）.

The smaller white statue is made to look like the Venus of Willendorf (シエラの前の小さな白い像は「ヴィレンドルフのヴィーナス」（オーストリアのヴィレンドルフで見つかった旧石器時代のヴィーナス像：訳者注）を模してつくりました). A Palaeolithic（旧石器時代の） figure was found in Austria. Even less is known about this figure. But most scientists think she is a symbol of fertility（豊穣の象徴）. Because in a time, where food was a scarce thing, being fat was a dream to people, who surely starved a lot（食料が不足していた時代は、当然飢餓がはびこり、肥満は人々の憧れだったはず）. For me she is a symbol for being myself. A reminder, not to go with fashion, but to do what I feel is right, and stick to it（見かけや流行に左右されるのではなく、自分が正しいと感じることを困難でもやりとげることが大切と思い出させてくれる）.
The blue and silver symbol on the wall shows the moon in all it's phases as once（壁にかけてある青と銀のシンボルは、一連の月の満ち欠けを示している）. This stands for the goddess as the trinity of virgin, mother and old woman, which also represents the circle of live and the way of the seasons, from spring to winter（これは処女と母親と老女の三つの要素を表わす女神を象徴し、命の輪廻と春から冬への季節の移り変わりも表わしている）.
I use the bowl of sand to produce smoke, either with incense sticks, or with small amounts of wood, leaves or resin（線香や木片・葉・樹脂の端切れで煙をたくのに砂の器を使っている）. The bowl will be replaced with the self made bowl, you have seen（そのうち手作りの器に取り替える予定）. I hope the material will be completely dried and ready to use, when I redecorate the corner.
In the bowl is a feather, which I use to distribute the smoke（煙をまくのに羽を使っている） The two stars are pentagrams, whose 5 tines stand for the five elements: fire, water, earth, air and spirit（二つの星は五芒星型で、五つの先端は火と水と土と空気と霊を象徴している）.
In the red box with the black symbols are my rune stones（神秘文字の刻まれた石）, you can see a set of them lying on the shelf beneath. These are old symbols used for writing, but also for divination(占い). Here is the wikipedia article about runes, which is very detailed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runes
The decoration is going to vary with the seasons. At the moment I have leaves and fruit (Chestnuts, beech-nuts, acorns and fir cones) because it is autumn. At Samhain (= Halloween) I'm going to change the design, because this is when the darkest parts of the year starts.
Oh yes, and the fotos on the wall are fotos of the mountains around Innsbruck. They are there, because I always felt nearer to the goddess, when I looked at them. And the fotos make me feel at home.
On the shelf beneath the table, I have all the books on magic, herbs and goddesses, my supply on candles and incense things, and matches, of course.
If you want a name for my religion, you can call it 'Pandea'（ラテン語で汎神論を意味する）, which means 'the goddess is in everything'. My believes are sometimes not very easy to explain, because I was for a long time searching for something I can believe in, and I only just arrived and found my spiritual home with the goddess, a few years
