I love foreign!" "You are so beautiful!" "I love you!"
Maybe, I should write this in English, too. There were a lot of things that made me upset when I traveled to Nice last winter, however, everything went well this time in Seoul. Everyone was nice. For example, at the subway station, my friend and I were looking for the right exit, then an old man asked us in Japanese, "Are you OK?." I don't know why, but I am always all mixed up whether I should speak Japanese or not and mumble at first in foreign countries. So, I mumbled this time, too(^^;). "Ye, Kwenchanayo... Daijoubudesu. Kamsahamnida."
At Pukchon munhwa center, a very old man talked to me in Japanese, he seemed happy to hear that a Japanese girl(me) has been studying Korean. I wish I could speak more...
By the way, it was so fun at Changdokkun. I wanted to have a picture taken with my friend, so I asked a boy(probably first grade at junior high school?) to take our picture. He was with other friends. It seemed like now is a field trip season for students, and there were a lot of kids there. The boy kindly said "OK," and took our picture. Funny thing was that all the other kids screamed some English whatever they know, such as "I love you!" "You're so beautiful!" "I love foreign(foreigners?)!" Those kids were so cute. I remember that I always tried to talk to foreigners when I was a kid, and practiced English. Though the things they said were not very appropriate and it was not a real communication, but I'm glad that kids tried to use English to me. I think it is important for children to try to communicate with people from other countries and try to understand them. That's the start for intercultural communication.
