Because we love a rags-to-riches story, we enjoy her success with all our heart. The Internet also played a very important role in making her world-famous before her debut. The footage of her first appearance where she sang “I dreamed a dream” is said to have been viewed more than 300 million times. Her record also has strong commercial potential in the United States. She will not be a flash-in-the-pan singer as long as she can have a good manager to support her. Under the present social climate, it is great to see such a sensational story. She encourages us to think that if we have a dream, we should never give up realizing it. My son graduated from grad school and started to stand on his own two feet. I feel really relieved and feel a sense of accomplishment as a mother.. (息子が院を卒業し、独り立ちしました。本当に肩の荷が下りた気持ちがして、母親としては、ある種の達成感を感じてます。) My mother spent about two weeks with me in my house and went back home last weekend.(母が我が家に2週間ほど滞在し、先週末家に帰りました。) I went to NOVA for the first time in a few weeks.（2,3週間ぶりに駅前留学しました。） 覚えておくと便利な表現 （彼は社会人になりました。） He started working. He started living on his own. He went into the real world. He started to stand on his own two feet. He is taking care of his own finances. ほかにも実際に見聞きされた表現があったら補足してくださ〜い♪ The last few weeks have been hectic. （最近の何週間か目の回るような忙しさでした。） This week was really hectic. （今週は本当にてんてこまいでした。） I've had a hectic week. （てんてこ舞いの一週間でした。） I have a hectic day at the office. （会社で一日中てんてこまいしている。 I lead a hectic life. （私目の回るような生活をしている。） He has a hectic business schedule. (彼の仕事のスケジュールは目が回りそうだ。) I've had hectic weeks.といったら、イギリスの先生とオーストラリアの先生が、weekを複数として使いたいなら、I've hadで始めないで、weekを主語に持ってきたほうが自然に聞こえるといわれました。 訂正、補足コメント大歓迎♪

Yesterday I went to Kamakura to attend a cooking class with a friend of mine. Before the class we visited Tokeiji(東慶寺) near Kitakamakura station. About ten years ago I went there with an American friend. She was very surprised to know that Tokeji was called "Kakekomidera"(Run-into Convent) or "Enkiridera"(Divorce Convent) and that the convent played a very important role in freeing a lot of harassed wives from their disgusting husbands when women had no right to seek a divorce. I heard some bush warblers sing merrily in the precincts of the temple and saw some beautiful Japanese apricot flowers. It was a little late to enjoy seeing them, though. I found the quiet atmosphere of the temple very relaxing. And then I enjoyed having a delicious lunch over good wine, learning a lot of things about cooking. Yesterday's recipe was not so difficult. So I'd like to cook it when my husband comes back from his business trip abroad this Sunday. 東慶寺について 神奈川県鎌倉市山ノ内にある臨済宗円覚（えんがく）寺派の寺。 松岡山、松ヶ岡御所（まつがおかごしょ）、また俗に縁切寺、駆込み寺などともよばれた。 本尊は釈迦如来（しゃかにょらい）。 開山は北条時宗（ときむね）の夫人覚山志道尼（かくざんしどうに）（覚山尼（かくざんに）） 開基(仏寺創建の際、財政的支持をする世俗の人)はその子の北条貞時（さだとき）。 1284年（弘安7）北条時宗が亡くなると、夫人潮音院殿（ちょうおんいんでん）は落飾して覚山尼と称し、翌1285年この寺を開創建した。 代々、足利（あしかが）氏出身の息女が多く尼住持となって法燈（ほうとう;仏前の灯火→心に法の燈を点す→開祖、釈迦、仏陀が説く法（真を学び実践すること」）を守り続けた。 室町時代(1336〜1573)には鎌倉尼五山第二に列し、1902年（明治35）まで男子禁制の尼寺であった。 5世の用堂尼（ようどうに）は後醍醐天皇の息女で、このときから松ヶ岡御所と称されたという。 覚山尼は、不法な夫に苦しむ女性を救おうとして、女性が一度この寺に駆け込み3年間寺奉公をすれば自動的に離婚が成立するという縁切寺法を定め、わが子の北条貞時に申請して勅許されたといわれる。 20世の天秀尼（てんしゅうに）は豊臣秀頼（とよとみひでより）の息女で、大坂落城ののち当寺に入り、よく寺法を守ったという。 江戸時代(1603〜1867)には相模や関東各地からこの寺に駆け込む女性が多く、「松ヶ岡男の意地をつぶすこと」「縁なき衆生（しゅじょう）を済度（さいど）する松ヶ岡」などと川柳（せんりゅう）に多く詠まれた。 江戸時代には寺領120貫で建長寺(1253年開創；開基は北条時頼、開山は蘭渓道隆)より多く、鎌倉では建長寺、円覚寺(1282年開創；開基は北条時宗、開山は無学祖元)とともに三大寺と称された。 明治以後、寺法は廃され、円覚寺管長釈宗演（しゃくそうえん）が中興して僧寺となった。寺宝には、木造聖観音（しょうかんのん）立像、初音蒔絵（はつねまきえ）火取母、葡萄（ぶどう）蒔絵螺鈿（らでん）聖餅箱（以上、国重要文化財）などのほか寺法関係の文書がある。境内には山門、庫裡（くり）、書院泰平殿、水月堂などがある。 木造の水月観音菩薩半跏像（すいげつかんのんぼさつはんかぞう）は女人の寺にふさわしい観音像です。白衣をまとい岩坐の上にゆるやかに、やや斜めに腰をかけ、水に映るつきを眺めているので水月観音と呼ばれる。右足を半跏（はんか）にし、左足を垂らし右手に未敷の蓮華を持つ。衣文の複雑な襞の表現もたくみで、衣に包まれた膝の丸みの刻出も自然。宝冠も華麗で、髪を高く結い上げ、若い女性の美しい面差しにうっとりする。参考までに↓実物はもっと素敵ですが。 http://www.tokeiji.com/pc/cultural_assets/suigetsu.html 境内奥の墓地には、用堂尼・天秀尼などの墓のほか、西田幾多郎（きたろう）、岩波茂雄、太田水穂（みずほ）、田村俊子、高見順、鈴木大拙（だいせつ）、和辻哲郎など学者・文化人の墓が多い。 裏山には鈴木大拙(1870〜1966；禅の欧米への紹介で有名な仏教学者)創立の松ヶ岡文庫がある。 花の寺としても名高い。

I went to Noto Peninsula with my husband and mother last week and stayed overnight at a hotel in Wajima. We joined the reasonable bus tour to travel around Noto. The hotel is facing Japan Sea and seems to be one of the best hotels in Wajima. We were welcomed by several staff in a kimono lining up in a row in the hall. At night we enjoyed the Gojinjo Drum Performance(御陣乗太鼓). I was deeply impressed with not only the magnificent sound but also the origin of this traditional entertainment traced back as far as the period of civil wars between rival daimyo(戦国時代). It is said that the drummers wearing ghost masks made of barks and seaweed hair fought off the armies of Uesugi Kenshin(上杉謙信). Although the villagers didn't have any weapons except spades(鋤) and hoes(鍬), they beat their enemies by beating the drums violently to threaten them. It was in 1577. We were a little surprised to know that we had to buy the admission ticket to see the performance in the hotel, but it was worth paying 今年は実家から母と主人と３人で、「能登半島一周、輪島温泉一泊二日旅行」と日帰りで「新穂高ロープウェイと飛騨牛づくし御膳」に行きました。決められた日程で、あまり選択の余地がない決められたコースをまわる方が、主人も私も母と一緒のときは気が楽だということが、長年の体験からわかりました。 バスツアーだと、母からいろいろ世話を焼かれる心配もなく、駐車場、交通渋滞も気にせず、主人はじっくり本を読んでいけるし、帰りにはバスの中で、普段めったに見ないお気楽映画も見れるし、自分たちでホテルを予約したりする必要もなく、ガソリン代の心配もなく、断然安いし、本当に便利です。 が・・・ 一日目に主人が温泉卓球をしたいといって、輪島のホテルで、３０分くらい卓球をしました。その後、温泉にゆったり入り、その日はよく眠ることができました。 翌日帰路についてしばらくし、うとうとしだしたら、右肩がだんだん痛くなり、そのうち右上腕も痛くなってきました。筋肉痛だと思い、一生懸命ストレッチなどをしてましたが、全く効果がありません。 目が覚めている時は、気がまぎれているのですが、夜になるとまた痛み出し、シップをべたべた貼って、なんとか眠りにつくことができました。 昨日実家から戻りさっそく最寄の診療所で診察してもらい、注射を打っていただいたら、すっかりよくなしましたが、また昨晩から痛くて寝られず、いよいよ５０肩かもしれません。月曜日にちゃんとした外科に行かねばと思ってます。 この２週間ほど、ジムにも、テニスにも行かず、ストレッチもせず、いきなり夢中で卓球のラケットを手打ちしてしまったことが引き金になったようです。 私は痛い思いをしているのに、一足先に５０肩などを体験している友人たちは、私の話を聞くとまず、笑い出します。 なんだか最近歳を感じます。

先週から実家の母がきています。子供達に会うのが主な目的ですが、私もあちこち連れまわってます。 あまり知られていないけどとてもよかったところを紹介しますね。 氷室椿庭園は三井不動産の元副社長ご夫妻の庭園をご遺族が茅ヶ崎市に寄贈された庭園です。閑静な住宅地にあるこじんまりした庭園に250種類近くの椿が植えられていて、圧巻です。2,3月が見ごろですが、まだ間に合うと思います。 初めてみて特に素晴らしかったのは、白や淡桃色の地に紅色の絞りが入った「氷室雪月花」という新品種の椿です。さすがに年配の方ばかりでしたが。 詳しくはこちらで↓ http://www.city.chigasaki.kanagawa.jp/newsection/kouen/html/himuro.html 長興山紹太寺の枝垂れ桜は360段の階段をのぼった長興山の中腹にある樹齢300年以上の立派な枝垂桜です。よかったらこちらで↓ http://www.choukouzan.com/bunkazai.html 数少ない海外からの方々もAmazing!,Magnificent!と言って、たくさん写真を撮ってました。 My mother has been visiting me at my house for a week or so. I took her to the nice and cozy camellia garden in Chigasaki, Choukouzan Syoutai-temple in Odawara to see an old drooping cherry tree, Akasaka Sacas to dine out with my son and his girl friend and so on. When she is at home, she is getting on me to do a better job with the housework. She seems to think it is her responsibility to educate me as a good housewife. I am a bit tired of her whining. I have little time to sit at PC. 日本語もわかる先生(日本語検定3級取得)との会話から She is not sensitive to social situations. （彼女は空気が読めない。彼女はKYだ。） I wanted some feeling of accomplishment. （僕は何か成し遂げたと感じたかった。何かやった〜という達成感がほしかった。） ALTとしていろいろな高校で仕事をしていて、高校によってあるいは上司の英語の先生によって、求められていることが違ったり、あまり話しかけてもらえなかったりすることがあるらしい。矛盾を感じつつも、日本語の勉強ができるという点では、満足されていました。
