The original photo was taken in the last early June
just after I exchanged yen.
Yen 10,000 was exchanged to Peso 4,770, then.

The space surrounded by the red light
is yesterday¡Çs exchanged rate.
Yen 10,000 is Peso 3,958.

Though I do not know the reason of the currency movement,
I expect that the rate will recover
to a range of 0.40 – 0.41 peso per yen soon.

By the way, since our life is expected to continue further,
let¡Çs think of much longer term
(e.g.
20 years, 30 years or 50 years).

I expect that
most probably while yen is depreciated, peso is appreciated.

The reasons are, simply, as follows:
(1)
Philippines economy which is developing will grow
more than Japanese economy which is matured.
Normally economic growth will diminish gradually.

(2)
Japan will lose its attractivenessas an investment destination
mainly because of the declining the number of labor force.

In general, economic growth models explain growth factors
by labor and capital and the former will decline.

Therefore
a countermeasure is to transfer Japanese assets to Philippine ones,
taking risks into account,
if one is certain to immigrate to the Philippines in the future.

Just in case, even if the yen is depreciated and baht is appreciated,
the movement will not affect one¡Çs life basically
because the person spends Philippine peso for his/her daily life in the Philippines.

I visited a remote town on Bohol Island, the Philippines during a new
year¡Çs holyday season of 1997-98.

I hear that this telephone was the only one in the town. However,
after a few years a land line was introduced and now they can use
cellular phone like urban areas.

Though their life has been improved, I think that their revenue level
in the town must be the same level for the past decade.

I hear from my business partner in Cebu that if the last spell of name
is ¡Èo¡É, in most cases the person is female
and that if the last spell of
the name is ¡Èa¡É, in most cases the person is male
.

I pick up names I have in my mind as follows:
(Male) Arnulfo, Antonio
(Female) Perla, Maria, Felma, Raida, Sheila, Christina, Angelia

A Portuguese textbook explains that if the last spell of noun is ¡Èo¡É, in
most cases the noun is the masculine and that the last spell of noun is
¡Èa¡É, in most cases the noun is the feminine.
