シンガポールのエコバッグ(Eco-bag in Singapore)

最近、エコバッグがはやっているようですが、私はこれを使っています。ちょうど10年くらい前にシンガポールで買ったものです。なぜか実家にあったのですが、多分、母へのお土産だったのでしょう。

Eco-bag seems to be popular these days. I am using this one as my eco-bag. I bought it in Singapore just a decade ago. I wonder why it is in my parents’ house. Probably it was souvenir to my mother.

“popular”と“population”は似ていると思いませんか。
“popul”はラテン語で「民衆」という意味です。
“publ”も同じものの変形です。
このグループに属するものは次のようなものがあります。

“public”(公共の)
“publish”(出版する)
“republic”(共和国)

６年前にタイで買った便利な時計 (A functional clock I bought in Thailand six years ago)

６年前にタイでの生活を始めた時に買った時計です。温度計も湿度計もついて135バーツ(当時のレートで375円。現在のレートで500円)でした。日本に本帰国する時はかなりのものを捨てたのですが、この時計は便利なので持って帰りました。

I bought this clock six years ago when I started to live in Thailand. It has a hygrometer and a thermometer and it cost Baht 135 (Yen 375 at that time and Yen 500 currently). Though I discarded most of my belongings when I returned to Japan, I brought this clock to Japan.

セブの貝(Shells from Cebu)

10年くらい前にセブで行われた結婚式の時にもらったものです。
よく見てみると、セブ(Cebu)と書かれています。

これは、書類などを押さえるために使うもののようですが、
ちょっとだけ南国気分に浸ることもできます。

I was given this one about ten years ago when I attended a wedding
ceremony held in Cebu.
You can find the letters of “Cebu”, if you observe it carefully.

Originally this one seems to be used to hold documents,
I can feel a bit of tropical atmosphere.

タイのクリスマス用品 (Thai Christmas goods)

去年の12月初めにタイ・パタヤのビッグＣで買ったものです。玄関に飾
っています。ちょっと首を傾けて、見てください。

長さは５ｍくらいあり、赤、青、緑、黄色の４色が10曲くらいのクリス
マスソングに合わせてピカピカと光ります。

確か値段は約270バーツ(約870円)でした。安いものです。

I bought this decoration at a Big C Department Store in Pattaya,
Thailand in the beginning of the last December. It is decorated in an
entrance of my apartment room. Please incline your head.

It has a five-meter length and its four colors (red, blue, green and
yellow) twinkle, matching with about ten Christmas songs.

I remember that its price was around 270 Baht (870 Yen). It is cheap,
isn’t it?

飾り物ですが、書類などを押さえるためにも活用することができ
ます。青いヒトデの他にカニもあり、貝も五種類入っています。
また、下の方も貝でできています。仕事中にほんの少し海を感
じることができます。値段は120ペソ(271円)でした。
