■TVR60周年記念モデル TVR Typhoon(限定60台)
次のGeneva Motor Showで公開予定
TVR is set to celebrate its 60th birthday with a limited run of 60 cars with a 600bhp engine.
Based on the Tuscan, the new supercar is expected to be called Typhoon.
The car is set to be unveiled at next March's Geneva Motor Show and will use a supercharged version of the company's own 4.0-litre six-cylinder Speed Six engine.
The Typhoon will also come with lightweight body panels made from carbon fibre to further its performance potential. It is thought that the car will be capable of more than 200mph and 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds.
The Typhoon is the first TVR to have been designed by computer to refine its chassis and aerodynamics.
The Typhoon is also set to be one of the first TVRs built at the company's new European factory with engines supplied from its Blackpool base. TVR is yet to confirm where its new factory will be.
■Typhoonはカーボンファイバー製ボディで、ボディはコンピューターデザインを起用
It will feature TVR's all-aluminium Speed Six engine, supercharged to produced 600bhp.
The carbon-fibre body ensures that it'll be expensive, TVR spokesman Jason Oxley saying that, although a retail price has yet to be fixed, around £120,000 "is about right".
In terms of styling, Oxley said that he couldn't describe what it'll look like, except
that it'll be recognisable as a TVR. The Typhoon will feature TVR's first outing with
computer-aided design. "It's a new method of design for us", said Oxley.
He said that the company had already taken orders for the car and so, as the
still-born Typhon project could have sold twice as many as were planned,
he was confident of selling all 60 of the limited edition -- the number celebrating
TVR's 60th birthday.
