皆様こんばんは

今夜も音楽記事にご訪問いただきありがとう御座います

好きな音楽が片寄っている気がしてますがこれはもう長い間の

事なので、そう簡単には変えられません。

音楽全般にはもう何でも聴く方だと思ってますが、最近の方の

邦楽とかはさっぱりです。

今は名前も知らない方が大勢テレビにでています（笑）

さて今回は以前もアップした事のある曲を取り上げました

Michael McDonald & James Ingram の Yah Mo B Thereという曲です

83年のアルバムなので93、03、13ともう30年以上も経ってます。

今でも飽きずに聴く事ができるというのは、やはり好きな曲だからなんですね

多分・・・

途中で演奏されるキーボード部分が特に好きですし２人共渋い！おじさんに

なっていて、憧れて仕舞います。

色々な動画がありますが、気に入ってるものを少し選んでみました

最後の方も個性的で良かったです

その昔、クインシージョーンズが未だR&Bの親方だった頃、ロッドテンパートンと言う天才作家と出会い、色々な名曲を製作して来ました。
ジェームズイングラムはクインシーの発見した天才歌手です。
クインシーはその頃、白人なのに歌を歌えば片っ端から黒人よりらしく歌う、と言われたマイケルマクドナルドと知り合い、ドゥービーを辞めてフリーになったマイケルにこの歌をアレンジしてジェイムズと組んで歌うように勧めます。
結果的に大ヒットになったのが、この歌。

天にいらっしゃる偉大な神様は別名、ヤモーとも言われ、色々な名前を持っている。
何かあったら神の名前を呼びなさい、救助してくれるよ、と言う超アップなリズムで乗れる歌です。

"Yah Mo B There"

"Yah Mo B There" is an R&B song by American singers James Ingram and Michael McDonald. It was written by Ingram, McDonald, Rod Temperton, and producer Quincy Jones. The song originally appeared on Ingram's 1983 album It's Your Night, released on Jones's Qwest Records label. It was released as a single in late 1983, peaking at No. 19 on the U.S. charts in 1984, and No. 44 on the UK charts also in 1984, (the remixed version by John Jellybean Benitez hit No. 12 in the Spring of 1985 in the UK), and has subsequently appeared on several of Ingram and McDonald's greatest hits albums as well as various 1980s compilation albums.

The performance earned the duo a 1985 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. It was one of a series of very successful duets involving Ingram. It also received a nomination for Best R&B Song, losing to "I Feel for You" (Prince).

The song is in reference to God and the power faith can have over difficult times, “Yah” being the shortened Yahweh – the Hebrew name for God.

In popular culture

The song was referred to in the 2005 film The 40-Year-Old Virgin. The main characters work in an electronics store in which a Michael McDonald concert DVD has constantly been playing on the TVs for two years. A salesman, David (played by Paul Rudd), has developed an intense hatred of the DVD and tells the manager, "Nothing against him [Michael McDonald], but if I hear 'Yah Mo B There' one more time, I'm gonna 'yah mo' burn this place to the ground!"^[1]^[2]^[3]

The song was featured in the background of a 1984 episode of the daytime soap opera The Young and The Restless.

In the web comedy series Yacht Rock, Ingram and McDonald write "Yah Mo" after mishearing Kenny Loggins say "Yeah, I'll be there" while eating an apple and talking on a cordless phone.

In the animated TV series American Dad!, the song was used in episode "Home Wrecker" as a favorite of Principal Lewis and sung by Steve and his friends.

Many people^[who?] also wonder if the song meant "God will be there." It is possible as "Yah" is the shortened form of the proper name of the god of the Bible, "Yahweh." This shortened form can be found in the King James version of the Bible Psalms 68:4.

今夜は90年代に入って急激に流行り始めていたニュージャックスウィング

の曲を取り上げました。

今流れているこの曲は覚えやすい、メロディなのでご存知の方もいると思います

"I Wanna Sex You Up"

"I Wanna Sex You Up" is a song recorded by American group Color Me Badd. The song was released in March 1991 as the lead single from their debut album C.M.B. (1991). The song was produced by Dr. Freeze and was also featured on the soundtrack to the 1991 film New Jack City.

The single achieved commercial success in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand, where it reached number one on the charts. It spent four weeks at position number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, but topped both the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Dance Club Songs charts.

Charts and rankings

The song spent three weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, behind both "More Than Words" by Extreme and "Rush Rush" by Paula Abdul. It was the 10th best-selling single of 1991 in the UK and the Number 2 song of the year in the US, and in 1992 the song won the group a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo and Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Song of the Year. It was ranked #40 on Blender's list of the "50 Worst Songs Ever"^[3] and VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 90s".

Samples

The "to the tick tock ya don't stop" soundbite is sampled from Doug E. Fresh's "La Di Da Di." The bassline and the "I know you not gonna sing that song!" soundbite are sampled from Betty Wright's "Tonight is the Night." The chorus melody is from the Shuggie Otis song "Strawberry Letter 23".

A sample of "I Wanna Sex You Up" has been used in the Kardinal Beats remix of "Tick Tock" by Lemar.^[4]

The song has been used in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, and a 1991 episode of the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives.

The music video played on an episode of Beavis & Butt-Head, in which Beavis calls Color Me Badd a "Super Suck Group", referring to group members Sam Watters, Mark Calderon, and Bryan Abrams as Kenny G, George Michael, and Snow respectively. Butt-Head also commented that if he "sang like a wuss" that he would get chicks.

It was performed by members of the Glee cast in the episode "Acafellas", and subsequently released as a bonus track on Glee: The Music, Volume 1, which was sold at Target.

Jimmy Fallon's The Ragtime Gals did a barbershop quarter rendition of the song for Late Night (NBC).

Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias did the song during an episode of Lip Sync Battle.

ニュージャックスウィング（New jack swing, NJS)とは、1980年代中盤にアメリカ合衆国で発生し、1980年代後半から1990年代前半にかけて流行した音楽スタイル^[1]^[2]。

概要

ミュージシャン／アーティスト兼音楽プロデューサーであるテディー・ライリー^[3]が中心となり、キース・スウェットのメジャー・デビュー曲“I Want Her”を皮切りに送り出しはじめたストリート感のあるR&B^[4]。特有のリズム、またはそのリズムで構成された楽曲を指す。ワシントンDCのゴーゴーの影響も受けている。

黒人音楽の世界では、1970年代までのソウル、ファンク、そしてそれらから派生した70年代後半のディスコブームが1980年代初頭に一段落していた。80年代前半には、リック・ジェイムスやキャメオらが新しいスタイルを模索しヒットを出していた。一方、ストリートでは79年に生まれたラップ、ヒップホップが台頭し、徐々に勢力を広めつつあった。

そして1986年のジャネット・ジャクソンのアルバム『コントロール』（Control）でジャム&ルイスがチープでない重厚感のある打ち込みでビートに新しい方向性を示した頃、新進のプロデューサーであったテディー・ライリーはファンクにヒップホップ的手法を組み合わせ、そこにソウルやゴスペル的メロディー・ハーモニーのセンスを加味することによって新たなスタイルを構築した^[1]^[5]。

1987年からキース・スウェットの「I Want Her」や、ジョニー・ケンプの「Just Got Paid」などのテディーによるプロデュース楽曲が世に送り出されると、そのサウンドの斬新さにより、彼は音楽評論家や聴衆たちの注目を集めた。また、この時期には「プログレッシブR&B」などと一部で呼ばれていた^[4]。

そしてテディーは満を持して自らのグループであるガイを結成。88年のファーストアルバムを通じて、先進的スタイルの完成形を披露。さらに、同時期にプロデュースしたボビー・ブラウンの「My Prerogative」が大ヒット。これによって、テディーの創造した新しいスタイルは広く認知され、大量の追随や模倣を生み出しながら一大流行となっていった。

ブラックミュージック特有の重いグルーヴ感を保持したまま、同時に軽快なスピード感と親しみやすいメロディーをアピールするこのスタイルは、若者を中心に高い人気を集めた。曲の中でヒップホップ的手法が印象的に使用され、特にラップを歌ものに積極的に取り入れる形は、のちのヒップホップ・ソウルの登場のきっかけにもなった。また、ヒット曲と共にヒップホップ由来の独特なダンスやファッション、ストリート・カルチャーがミュージックビデオなどを通じて発信され、それも黒人だけでなく、白人の一部にも支持された。こうした人気の高まりが全米、およびヨーロッパや日本に波及していき、ニュージャックスウィングはアメリカではR&Bチャートを席巻し、ポップ・チャートでもヒットを出していった。

ほぼ同時期には、イギリスからはSoul II Soulを中心とするクラブ・ミュージックの台頭（これは日本では特に“グラウンド・ビート”と呼ばれた）が発生した。またアメリカでも、80年代前半から続いていたミネアポリスを中心としたプリンス一派やジャム&ルイスなどの活躍があった。また、MCハマーに代表されるような、キャッチーなトラックを駆使するラッパーも登場し始めた。ニュージャックスウィングの制作者たちは、これらの他の流れと相互に影響を与え合い（Soul II Soulのヒット曲「Keep on Movin'」のテディー・ライリーによるリミックスなど）ながら、ヒットチャートにブラックミュージックブームを巻き起こしていった。

このムーブメントが、80年代になってR&Bのヒット曲がクロスオーバーしにくくなっていたアメリカのポップチャートにおいて、R&Bやヒップホップのアーティストが上位にランクインしてくるのが自然、という今日のボーダーレスな状況を生み出す原動力になった。1991年には、“キング・オブ・ポップ”マイケル・ジャクソンがテディーのプロデュースの下、アルバム『デンジャラス』をリリースし大ヒットさせた。

ヒップホップの台頭もあってブラック・カルチャーが世界中に浸透していく中、ニュージャックスウィングは新しい世代／時代を象徴するビートとして世界中にダンス・ブームを巻き起こした^[4]。その影響は日本にも及び、J-popの作曲家も取り入れていった^[4]。

流行の最盛期には、黒人の大御所ミュージシャンから白人ミュージシャンまでがニュージャックスウィングの楽曲を発表するほどだったが、あまりの粗製濫造のために市場から飽きられるのも早かった^[1]^[4]。テディーを筆頭にオリジネイターたちが次代のサウンドを模索しはじめたことで1990年代中盤にはニュージャックスウィングは消え去ってしまった^[1]^[4]。しかし一方で、ダンスフロアなどでの支持には根強いものがあり、2000年代に入ってからは、ブリトニー・スピアーズが「My Prerogative」のカバーを発表するなど、再評価の動きも見られる。2010年代後半、ニュージャックスウィング・リバイバルとして話題を集めたブルーノ・マーズのアルバム『24K Magic』の世界的ヒットなどにより、再びスポットライトが当てられた^[2]^[6]^[7]。

"You Got Me"

"You Got Me" is a song by the hip hop band The Roots, featuring vocals by Erykah Badu (who sings the chorus) and Eve, then known as Eve of Destruction, who raps the second verse but does not appear in the music video. The track was released as a single from the band's fourth studio album, Things Fall Apart (1999).

"You Got Me" was co-written by musician Jill Scott, who recorded vocals for the song's chorus and bridge. Her part was subsequently re-recorded by Badu at the insistence of MCA Records, who wanted a higher-profile collaboration for the album's official lead single (at the time, Scott was relatively unknown outside Philadelphia). When the group later went on tour, Scott joined them during performances of the song. The original version was later released on the 2005 compilation Home Grown! The Beginners Guide to Understanding the Roots, Volume One.

The song garnered The Roots and Badu a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2000.

皆様こんばんは

土曜の夜如何お過ごしでしょうか？

毎週末は好きな音楽を取り上げたいと思いつつ、在庫写真に

押され気味で（笑）思う様にアップ出来てません。

まあ勝手気ままにご紹介しているだけなので備忘録みたいなものですが。

今回はSWV の Right hereを取り上げました。

映像には釣りや乗馬という映像が流れてきて、おや～と思いました

一番最初にCDで聴いた時もこれは！ととても衝撃的な曲でした。

マイケルの曲を上手くサンプリングしていて、なかなかの仕上がりです。

名曲だから上手くいくとも限らないので、凄いなあ～と当時思いました

3番目にフラメンコ調の動画が気に入ったので貼り付けます。

最初顔に蚊が止った？のかと思いましたが、そうでは無かったみたいです（笑）

マイケルのHuman Nature をこんな風に表現出来るのは素晴らしいです

久し振りに長くあれこれと曲を聴き入ってました・・・

"Right Here"

"Right Here" is the title of the debut single released by the American R&B girl group SWV. It charted on the Billboard charts as a double-A-side with "Downtown". A remixed version, commonly referred to as "Right Here (Human Nature Remix)", became a number-one R&B single, selling 500,000 copies and earning a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.^[2]^[3] According to Billboard, the song spent 54 weeks on the R&B chart, which is one of the longest chart runs of all time.^[4]^{[not in citation given]}

Despite the huge success of the single, the group admitted in early 2014 that they didn't really like Teddy Riley's remix of the song.^[5]

Billboard named the Human Nature Remix of the song #17 on their list of 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time.^[6]

Original and remixed song

The original version of "Right Here" was released in the third quarter of 1992. It peaked at number 13 on the Hot R&B Singles chart. Tamara "Taj" Johnson wrote and performed the bridge to the original song, which would result in her first (of many) co-writing credits on SWV songs.

The "Human Nature" remix by Teddy Riley samples Michael Jackson's 1983 hit "Human Nature". One of their best known hits, it spent seven weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, as well as three weeks atop the Rhythmic Top 40 chart. It became one of the longest running number-one R&B singles of 1993. It also peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, held from the top spot by Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover." It also reached the top ten in Europe, including the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number three in September 1993.^[7]

"Right Here [Human Nature Remix]" appears on the soundtrack and in the film Free Willy. The first verse of the Human Nature remix varies slightly from the original version, and the rapped bridge is omitted. The remix also features a young Pharrell Williams chanting "S...The double...The U...The V!" during the song. This became a common "call" during the group's concerts.

"Right Here [Human Nature Remix]" was later remixed again for SWV's EP The Remixes as a more obvious mash-up with the song's sample, "Human Nature" by Michael Jackson, whose vocals are featured in the remixed duet. The "Human Nature" remix has also been sampled by the late rapper 2Pac on the track "Thug Nature" from Too Gangsta for Radio (2001). Pop singer Chris Brown's song "She Ain't You" (2011) samples Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" and a portion of SWV's remixed version. Human Nature was also sampled by Nas in the hit song "It Ain't Hard To Tell" on his debut album Illmatic.^[8]^[9]

Critical reception

Charles Aaron from Spin described the song as "A total radio swoon and uncanny appropriation that lets you enjoy Michael Jackson in a way not heard since, say, "O.P.P." Thank Teddy Riley for the remix, but this female trio relaxes, croons, and converses so lovely, you gotta feel suave."^[10]

Music videos

Both versions of "Right Here" have music videos. The video to the original song begins with Coko discussing a man she likes to Taj and Lelee. It features the singers having flashbacks to boys they liked as young girls, then is brought to the present day with the women and their boyfriends. In between, the girls goof off together in a large, mirrored room. "Right Here" was the first of their videos to showcase the group's dancing skills.

The music video directed by Lionel C. Martin to the remixed version begins with SWV riding horses and fishing on an island's coast, and are shown performing with a band. An alternate version of the "Human Nature Remix" video features scenes from Free Willy along with clips of Michael Jackson performing during his 1992 Dangerous Tour.

The "Human Nature" remix is the more recognized version of the single, and is the one that is usually performed at SWV concerts. However, the original version (complete with the rapped bridge) is occasionally performed instead.
