Southern Rockも最近はパッとしない･･･『昨今のオルタナ系ってヤツはど～もなぁ～』などと、ワタシと同じようにそれが煮え切らなく感じている方々に、今回は『チョット違うか～？』と言ってもらえるか？LYNYRD SKYNYRDのメンバーとして１９９０年代初頭から４年ほど在籍していたMike Estesの率いる≪SKINNY MOLLY≫は、Nashville, TN のBandでしてL.SKYNYRDの曲を混ぜながらCircuit活動をした後に、今回の2nd-Album / HAYWIRE RIOTをリリースしました･･･Mikeの骨太Guitarを中心に７０年代をそのまま今に再現したような王道Southern Rockだ･･･しかしだ･･･Vocalも好みと言えるがやはり何かが足りない！！何なんだろうか～～？？？

W.C.Handy Music Festivalは、Alabama州 Muscle ShoalsのFlorenceで生まれ"Father of the Blues"として知られる≪William Christopher Handy.(November 16, 1873 – March 28, 1958)≫にちなんで、１９８２年から開催されているそうです。Cornet奏者でもありますが、今ワタシたちが黒人Bluesに様々な影響を受けた音楽を日常的に聴けるのは、W.C. １９７５年、Georgia州のCapricorn RecordsからデビューしたBandです…同レーベルにはその年"Win, Lose or Draw"をリリースしたAllman Brothers Bandもいましたが、USA.Rockシーンの勢いは南部から西海岸に移り、その年のHit.TuneにはEaglesの"One Of These Nights""Best Of My Love"やDoobie Brothersの"Black Water"などが上がり、Southern Rock (SWAMP)ファンのワタシもいささか西海岸Soundに浮気気味でした。そんな中に現れたのがこの≪Blue Jug≫！…実際の音を聴けたのはしばらく後でしたが、間違いなくThe Bandからの影響がみられるその内容は、聴かれますとLevon Helm・Rick Dankoの声かと一瞬惑わされるかもしれませんよ。エリア・コード615で知られるBuddy Spicher (fiddle)を迎えるなど、Blues色にはやや欠けるもののその音作りとMelody Lineのセンスは、ジャケット写真からもうかがえるようにRootsな深みを感じます…ですが１９７８年に２作目をリリースしてあっさり解散と言うこともありこのBandかなりRareです…1stはCD化がされましたが、これまたデキのイイ2nd-AlbumのCD化が待たれるところ～
