Hi, everybody! 大変ご無沙汰しております！お元気ですか？ It's been a very long time! How are you doing? おそらく、皆さんもご存じの通り、ニューヨークはハリケーン、サンデーで大変なことになっております。 Probably, as you may know, we are having a huge difficulty in NY because of the hurricane, Sandy. 広範囲な住宅の崩壊や浸水の被害に加え、亡くなられた方もいらっしゃいます。 Not only the extensive range of the damage of housing destruction and flood but also some people passed away. 通常、ＮＹにはあまりハリケーンが上陸することはないのですが、今回は莫大な被害をもたらしました。 Usually, hurricanes rarely make landfall in New York but this time, it brought enormous damage. 私たちの家やお店は無事でしたが、停電してしまいました。 Our house and the shop were OK but we had power failure. お店の停電は先週の金曜日に復旧しましたが、家はまだ停電中です。（−−；） We had the power back at the shop last Friday but we don't have the power at the house yet. ハリケーンが過ぎ去った後の家の庭の様子です。 This is the picture of the backyard of the house after hurricane. この大木は家の真横にあるので、とても不安でしたが、反対側に倒れてくれて本当に良かったです。 The huge tree is right next to the house so we were anxious about it. I am glad that it fell down to the other side. 他の木も倒れて、物置小屋を破壊してしまいました。 Other trees were knocked down destroying the shed. 幸い、ロッドが持っていたキャンプ用のバーベキューセットやプロパンガスのコンロを使って調理をし、ろうそくやオイルランプ、懐中電灯など様々な物を利用しました。 Fortunately, Rod has a BBQ grill and a propane stove for camping to cook. We also use candles, oil lamps and flashlights for lights. ２つの発電機もお店と家で使用し、冷蔵庫や明かり、充電などに利用しました。 Also, we use two generators at home and the shop for fridges, lights and charging. それでも、家の暖房が使えないためにとても寒く、お湯も使えません。（−−；） Even so, we cannot use the heating system and hot water at home so it is very cold. 家には義母が寝たきりでしたが、プロパンガスのヒーターだけでは寒すぎるため、結局、老人ホームで一時的に滞在させてもらうことにして、介護の方も家に帰りました。 We had Rod's mother staying bed but since one propane heater was not warm enough for her, we transferred her to a nursing home temporarily and made the caretaker return home. それに加えて、２日前に雪が降りました。。。（−−；） In addition, we had snow two days ago... いつも前向きな私も、これにはちょっとこたえました。。。 I am usually positive but it was hard for me... でも、私たちよりももっと大変な人たちはたくさんいます。私たちはお店の電気が使えるし。 However, there are many people suffering more than we do. We can even use the power at the shop. なので、そうゆう人達のために、洋服を地元のボランティア団体に寄付しました。 So I donated some clothes to a local volunteer organization for those people who are suffering. 今日は少し暖かくなり、雪もほとんど解けたため、随分気持ちが楽になりました。（＾＾） Today, it warmed up little and the snow melted mostly so I feel much better. 恐らく、あと数日で家の電気も復旧すると思うので、もう少しの辛抱です。 Probably, we are going to get the power back soon (hopefully!) so just a little more patience. 今年は、私たちにとって本当にいろいろなことがある年です。 Various things happened to us this year. 人生様々なことがあるけれど、普段本当に恵まれた生活をしていると切実に感じました。 We have various things in life but I felt that we are truly blessed to live life everyday. とりあえず、少しでも私たちのことをご心配いただいた皆様、私たちは元気に毎日を過ごしております。 In the mean time, I just want to say that we are OK to those who are concerned about us. 最後に、どんどん距離が縮まっている２ワンと２にゃんの写真を載せますね。 At the end, I will show you the two doggies and the two cats who are getting much closer. イジーはマイロのお尻にタッチしてるみたいです！（＊＾＾＊） It looks like Izzy is touching Milo's butt! それでは、また近況を報告しますね。 So, I will keep you informed. 皆さん、お体に気を付けて、無理をしないで頑張ってくださいね！（＊＾＾＊） Please take care and don't work too hard, everyone! [追記 Edit] みなさんにご心配をお掛けしましたが、10日の夜に家の停電が無事復旧しました。 Thank you for your concern and prayers for us. みなさん、こんにちは！（＊＾＾＊） Hi, everybody! 大変遅くなりましたが、あけましておめでとうございます！ I am sorry for the late greeting but happy new year! みなさんは素晴らしい新年を迎えられましたか？ Did everyone have a wonderful new year? 私たちは大晦日に大きなロブスターを食べて、満腹のまま新年を迎えました。 We had big lobsters on the new years eve and started the new year with full stomachs. 元日は、私用にミニミニおせちを作りました。（＾＾） On the new year's day, I cooked tiny Osechi for myself. やっぱり、お正月には少しでもおせち料理が食べたくなります。 After all, I want to have even a little bit of Osechi at new year. さてさて、今年はマイロとマーフィーのカレンダーを作ったんです。（＊＾＾＊） Well, this year, we made calendars of Milo & Murphy. ちなみに、1月はこんな感じです。 For your information, January is like this. 写真の枚数やレイアウトも自分で決められて、すっごく気に入っています。（＾＾） I can decide the numbers of photos and layout and I am so happy about it. 来年も作ろうかな〜！ロッドはにゃんずバージョンも欲しいみたいです。 I may make it next year as well! みなさん、こんにちは！（＊＾＾＊） Hi, everybody! 大変ご無沙汰しております！ It's been a long time! ばたばたとしているうちに、いつの間にか年末になってしまいました！（＠＠） It's been very hectic and already the end of the year without notice! 年末だというのに、まだ仕事をしている私です。（＾＾；） It is the end of the year but I am still working. でも、今年は去年よりも成長し、多くの仕事にも恵まれました。 However, I improved my skills this year and had a lot of jobs. At Christmas, we enjoyed Joe's cooking as usual! 大晦日には、ロッドの家族と一緒にジョーのロブスター料理をいただきます。 On the New Year's Eve, we will have Joe's lobster meal with Rod's family. Then, after that, we will go to a friend's house to do the countdown with some friends. 今日は、以前に撮ったマンハッタンのクリスマスの写真をお見せしますね！ Today, I will show you some Christmas photos in Manhattan that I took before! こちらは有名なロックフェラーセンターのクリスマスツリーです。 Here is the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. この時期は、クリスマスツリーの前の広場はアイススケートリンクになっています。 During this time of year, the space in front of the Christmas tree become an ice skate rink. ビルの前にある巨大なクリスマスツリーのオーナメント。 These are huge Christmas tree ornaments in front of the building. 日本はクリスマスが終わるとお正月の飾りつけになりますが、こちらはキリスト教の習慣から、1月の中旬 くらいまではクリスマスの飾りつけが続きます。 In Japan, they quickly change Christmas decorations to New Year's decorations after Christmas, but in the US, Christmas decorations last until the mid-January because of the Christian tradition. I decorated inside of the shop! そして、最後はマイロとマーフィーのクリスマスショット。（＊＾＾＊） At the end, here is Milo & Murphy's Christmas shot. みなさんのブログを見に行く時間が無くて、ごめんなさい！（＞＜） I am sorry that I don't have enough time to visit you guys' blogs! 来年もきっとこのような状態になると思いますが、どうぞこれからも宜しくお願いします！ The coming year will probably the same as this year, but please keep in touch! みなさん、こんにちは！お元気ですか？（＾＾） Hi, everyone! How are you doing? 気付けば、もう既に1月の下旬になってしまいました。（＾＾；） I find that it is already at the end of January. We've been having numerous snowstorms repeatedly since after the last Chiristmas's heavy snow. 昨日の雪で、なんと一月の積雪量の記録を更新してしまいました！（＠＠） Yesterday's snow made a new record of snow accumulation in January! これは今朝撮った家の近くの写真です。 Here is a photo I took this morning around our house. 今回は50cmくらい積もったのですが、それ以前の雪もまだたくさん残っていたので、 道端の至る所に多くの雪の山ができています。 This time was about 50cm of snow accumulation but we had a lot of remaining snow, so there are many piles of snow at both sides of roads all over the places. これは前回雪が積もった時の15日の朝、お店に入る時のビデオです。 Here is a video I shot at the last time we had a lot of snow on the 15th, entering the shop in the morning. The video is little long but Murphy is welcoming us at the end so please take a look! マイロが雪の中を歩くのが、ちょっと大変そうでしたよね。（＾＾；） Milo seemed like having a trouble waling in the snow. 雪ばかりが続いているし、これからも雪の予報が出ているので、ニューヨーカーはみんな 雪にうんざりしています。（−−；） Since the too much snow and we are going to have more snow, New Yorkers are tired of snow. 日本はどうですか？例年と変わりないのかな？ How about Japan? Is it as has happened in the past? ずっとイジーとブーブーの写真をアップしていなかったので、今回はにゃんずの写真をアップします。 I haven't uploaded Izzy and Boo-boo's photos, so I will upload the cats' photos this time. まずは、スキャナーの上のイジー。（＾＾) At first, here is Izzy on a scanner. ブランケットに包まっているイジー。 This one is Izzy wrapped around in a blanket. ベッドの中だけど、お風呂に浸かっているみたいなブーブー。（＊＾＾＊） Boo-boo looks like having a soak in a bath tub even though she is in a bed. たまには一緒にベッドで休むことも。 They rest together in the bed once in a while. にらめっこしてるみたい。（＾＾） It is like a face making. イジーとマーフィーはこんなに近くで寝ていても大丈夫です。（＊＾＾＊） Izzy and Murphy can sleep together like this close without any problems. こんな感じで、みんな元気に楽しく毎日を過ごしています！（＾＾） As you can see from the photos, we are all fine and enjoying together everyday! However, we are really looking forward to the spring. 皆さんも、体に気をつけて寒い時期を乗り越えましょうね！（＾＾） Please take good care of yourself and live through the cold time of year! |

How are you doing? もうクリスマスも終わり、後は大晦日のイベントを残すのみとなりましたね。 Christmas is over so we only have an event of New Year's Eve. 日本に居る皆さんは大掃除やお節料理の準備で大忙しだと思いますが、アメリカは年末に 大掃除をする習慣が無いので、大掃除もお節の準備もしていない私です。（＾＾） You all in Japan must be very busy doing housecleaning and preparing for New Year's dishes, but there is no such a tradition in the US so I am not doing anyting. （アメリカではスプリング・クリーニングといって、春に大掃除をする習慣があります。） (In the US, there is a tradition called spring-cleaning in spring.) 皆さんは、良いクリスマスを過ごされましたか？ Did you guys spend a nice Christmas? 今年のクリスマスは、23日にお店に友達を招いてクリスマスパーティーを開き、25日に恒例の ジョーのクリスマスディナーをご馳走になりました。（＊＾＾＊） We had a Christmas party with friends on the 23rd at the shop and we had traditional Joe's Christmas dinner on the 25th this Christmas time. なので忙しかったものの、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました！（＊＾＾＊） So I was busy but we had a wonderful time with friends and family! 撮った写真はこれだけ。。。ジョーのお料理の一部です。（＾＾；） I only took this photo... It is some parts of Joe's dishes. 手前からミートボール、ショートリブの椎茸添え、トマトのサラダとパエリアです。 From the front, meatballs, short ribs with Shiitake mushrooms, tomato salad and paella. 勿論、その他にもスクワッシュスープ、ブロッコリー、カプレーゼ、エッグプラントローラティーニ、 シュリンプなどを頂きました。 Of course, we had other dishes such as squash soup, broccoli, caprese, eggplant rollatini, and shrimp. ジョーのお料理が気になる方は、過去の記事のEventsをご覧くださいね。 If you are interested in Joe's cooking, please look at articles in the past at Events. そして、昨日（26日）は吹雪で、すっかり雪景色となったニューヨークです。 Then, we had a snowstorm yesterday (26th) so we have snowscape all over in New York. 昨夜は雪だけでなく風が強かったので、ロッドとお散歩に出たマイロは何もせずに直ぐに帰ってきました。（＾＾；） It was not only snow, but the wind was very strong so Rod took Milo for a walk last night but Milo did not want to stay outside and came home shortly without peeing. 今朝、お店の裏のシャッターを開けたら、雪がこんなに積もっていて2ワンは庭に行けませんでした。 This morning, I opened the back door of the shop and saw this much of snow so the dogs could not go to the backyard. なので、ロッドが除雪機で２ワンのために小道を作りました。（＾＾） Then, Rod used a snowplow to make a path for the dogs. これが今朝撮ったビデオです。（＊＾＾＊） Here is the video I took this morning. マーフィーが一度雪の深い所に行ってしまい、雪に埋もれそうになったので、それからは２ワンとも この小道を行ったり来たりするだけでした。（＾＾；） Murphy went into deep snow once and almost buried in snow so they only went back and forth in the path after that. 大晦日はロッドの友達の家に集まってカウントダウンのパーティーをする予定です。 We are going to Rod's friend's house for a countdown party on the New Year's Eve. 今年は翻訳者として仕事を始め、勉強もし、いろいろな面で実りの多い年となりました。 I started to work as a translator and studied this year, so it was a fruitful year in many different aspects. 来年こそは運転免許を取得し、仕事もより充実させたものにしたいと思っています。（＊＾＾＊） I will get a driver's license and be more productive next year. そして、来年は日本に一時帰国することも検討中。来年も元気で良い年になるように頑張ります！ Plus, I am planning to go back to Japan next year. I will keep trying to be well and make it to a good year! I am sorry that I cannot update my blog often and I can hardly visit your blogs. 来年も恐らくマイペースでの更新となると思いますが、これからもどうぞ宜しくお願いします！ I will probably update my blog at my own pace next year as well, but please don't forget me. 新しい年が皆様にとって素晴らしい年になりますように！（＊＾＾＊） I hope you all will have a wonderful new year! |
