みなさん、こんにちは！お元気ですか？（＊＾＾＊） Hi, everyone! How are you doing? ニューヨークは紅葉もピークを過ぎ、随分涼しくなりました。 It's been already passed the peak of autumn foliage and getting cooler in New York. でも、先週の日曜日は気温が１６℃くらいまで上がったので、今年最後のバイクライドを楽しみました！ However, it reached about 16 degrees C last Sunday so we enjoyed the last bike ride for this year! 今回の目的地はニューヨークのお隣の州、ニュージャージー州にあるミツワ・マーケットプレイスです。 This time, our destination was Mitsuwa marketplace in New Jersey, next to New York. Even I say it is in the next state of NY, it is just about one hour distance. まだ紅葉の残る綺麗な景色を楽しみ、タッペンジー・ブリッジでハドソン川を渡りました。 （写真は参考資料です） We enjoyed remaining beautiful color leaves and went over Tappan Zee Bridge on Hudson River. (The photo is a reference) 到着しました！！（＊＾＾＊） We got there!! ここは、ニューヨークやニュージャージーに住む日本人にとってはとっても嬉しい日系の ショッピングセンターなんです！ It is a Japanese shopping center that gives a pleasure to Japanese people living in New York or New Jersey! 大きな日本食のスーパーマーケットの他に、資生堂や和食器のお店、雑貨店、本屋、ビデオ屋さんなど の日本のお店が入っています。 Along with a big Japanese supermarket, there are Japanese stores such as Shiseido, Japanese plates and utensils store, a book store, a video shop and so on. 奥の建物は、しゃぶしゃぶやお寿司などの和食レストランです。 The building in the back is a Japanese restaurant which serves shabushabu and sushi. スーパーマーケットの建物の中にも、伊藤園や神戸風月堂、源吉兆庵、イタリアントマト、 ケーキ、大判焼きなどのたくさんのお店も入っています。 Also, in the building of the supermarket, there are ITO EN, Kobe Fugetsudo, Minamoto Kichoan, ITALIAN TOMATO, cakes, Obanyaki and many other shops. There is a food court there as well, so you can choose from tempura, Chinese, tonkatu, udon, ramen or more. 私は大好きな山頭火のラーメン！！（＊＾＾＊） I chose my favorite Santoka's ramen!! 塩とんこつラーメンといくらご飯のセットです。とっても美味しかった〜！最高！！（＃＾＾＃） Here is a set of tonkotsu-salt ramen and salmon roe rice bowl. It was delicious! That's the best! フードコートの中。奥に見えるのはスーパーです。 Here is the inside of the food court. In the back of the photo is the supermarket. 私たちの中で日本人は私だけでしたが、ロッドもロッドの友達２人もそれぞれ好きなものを頼んで 大満足してました。（＾＾） I was the only Japanese among us, but Rod and his two friends picked they liked and enjoyed the food there. Every time I go there, I feel like as I am in Japan. あまり頻繁には行けませんが、私のお気に入りの場所の一つです。 I cannot go there so often but it is one on my favorite places. と言うわけで、今年最後のバイクライドは私にとってとても嬉しいものとなりました！（＊＾＾＊） Thus, the last bike ride for this year was very enjoyable to me! |

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! 今の気温は１９℃。小雨が降りそうなお天気です。 It is 19 degrees C now. There will be showers later. さて、今日の午前中は歯医者に行って、歯のクリーニングをしてもらいました。 Now then, I went to the dentist this morning to clean my teeth. でも、虫歯が２つも見つかったので、また治療しなきゃ。。。（−−；） However, they found two cavities in my teeth so I will have to fix them again... I wrote about it on the article before but medical and dental treatment costs are very expensive! There is no health insurance system like Japan in the US so either companies provide it to their employees or each individual buys it. We both have insurance individually because Rod owns his shop. 歯の保険に入るとさらに保険料が高くなるのと、治療費の半額くらいしかカバーされないので、 歯の保険には入っていないんです。 If we change the insurance policy to the one covers dentist bills, it would cost much more and it would only cover half-price so we don't have insurance for dentist bills. なので、クリーニング代は約＄１００（１万円）。前回キャップを作った時は、一つが＄１２００（１２万円）でした。 Thus, the teeth cleaning is about $100 (\10,000.) The cap they made for me last time was $1,200 (\120,000)! I am worried if I have to make a cap again this time... 今、アメリカではオバマ大統領が医療保険の改革を進めようとしています。 Now, President Obama is trying to forward health insurance reform in the US. 確かに、いろんな所に無駄があるのは分かるけど、その無駄を本当に無くしてくれるのでしょうか？！ I know there is a lot of waste in the system now but he can really eliminate the waste?! 国民全員が入れる保険は魅力的に聞こえるけど、実際にシステムを導入しているイギリスやカナダでは 手術を待つのに半年もかかるとか。。。 It sounds wonderful that everybody has insurance but England and Canada where already doing government-run health insurance programs, people wait half year to get a surgery... So, rich Canadians come to the US to get a surgery. Besides, where is the financial resource to get the huge amount of money??? Thanks to the health insurance reform, the insurance cost we pay was raised $400 (￥40,000) per month! 今では、私たち二人の健康保険料は月＄２０００（２０万円）を超えています。（−−；） So now, our insurance fee is over $2,000 (\200,000) per month for both of us. 高い保険なのですが。。。 Well, Rod is a diavetic, taking a lots of kinds of medicines everyday so our insurance is an expensive one in order to reduce his burden to pay the medicines. この改革によって医療の質が落ちずに保険料が下がるのは嬉しいですが、逆に質が落ちて保険料が 上がってしまったら、アメリカの国民はどうやって病気と闘っていくのでしょうか？ If this reform works to keep the quality of health care and reduce insurance fees, that would be great, but if it goes the opposite way, I don't know how American people will fight against deseases. 悪い結果にならないように願ってやみません。 This reform is going to be forwarded anyway, but I just hope it is not going to be worse for Americans and other people living in the US. 今日はちょっと愚痴になってしまいました。（＾＾；） I was little whining today... でも、アメリカの現状を分かって欲しかったのです。

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! レイバー・デーの三連休が終わったアメリカですが、昨日はこちらに来て初めての事をしました！ The labor day three-day weekend is over in the US but I did a thing yesterday that I had never done here! それは・・・お墓参りです！（＾＾） That was... visiting a grave! 私がロッドと結婚した時には、ロッドのお父さんはもう既に他界されていたので、一度も会ったことは無いんです。 When I got married to Rod, Rod's father was already gone so I've never met him. でも、ロッドやロッドのお母さんから何度も話を聞いたり、写真を見せて貰いました。 However, I heard a lot about him from Rod and Rod's mother and saw some photos as well. ロッドのお父さんはロッドよりもハンサムで、とても女性にもてそうな感じでしたよ！（●＾＾●） Rod's father looked much more handsome than Rod and looked very popular among girls! なんだか、お墓参りに行くというよりも、初めてロッドのお父さんとご対面するような気分でした。 So I felt like meeting Rod's father for the first time than visiting his grave.  とても広い墓地に着いて、私が驚いたのはいろんな形のお墓があること！（＠＠） When we got to the big cemetery, I was so surprised to see that there were various kinds of graves! お墓を写真に撮るのは不謹慎かと思いましたが、あまりに素敵なので撮りました。（＾＾；） I thought taking a picture of graves was indiscreet but they were very nice so I took some pictures. お城の一部？！小さな家？！って感じですよね！（＠＠）家族のお墓のようです。 Is it a part of a castle?! or a small house?! They are graves for families. 勿論、普通の墓石もあります。（＾＾） Of course, there are common gravestones too. ここには、たくさんの幼くして亡くなった子供たちが眠っていました。 Many infants rest in peace here. ロッドのお父さんのお墓へ。写真は撮りませんでした。 We visited Rod's father's grave. I didn't take a picture of it. 私とロッドのお母さんはお父さんに話しかけましたが、ロッドは何も言わず。。。（−−；） Rod's mother and I spoke to Rod's father but Rod didn't say anything... まあ、男性だからかな？！（＾＾；） Well, it may be a guy thing?! ロッドのお父さんが眠っているお墓の敷地には、あと９人分のスペースがあるそうです。 Rod's father's grave has some space for nine more people. 私もいつかその場所に入るんだな〜と思ったら、日本の家族を思い出して寂しくなってしまいました。（−−；） I thought I would be in there someday and that reminded me of my family in Japan and felt little sad. でも、きっと天国で会えるから心配ないですよね！（＾＾：） However, I will be able to see them in heaven so I will not worry about it! お墓を後にした私たちは、お昼に中華料理を食べることに。 After we left the cemetery, we decided to have Chinese food for lunch. 名前もインテリアもチャイニーズレストランなんだけど、お寿司や日本食もありました！ It is a Chinese restaurant by its name and the interiors but they have sushi and Japanese dishes! 最近のこちらのチャイニーズレストランはそうゆう所が多いです。 Many Chinese restaurants here are like that lately. 日本食やお寿司の人気の高さが分かりますね！（＾＾） You can tell how popular Japanese dishes and sushi are here! こちらはロッドが頼んだ海老と野菜の炒め物と、ロッドのお母さんが頼んだ海老の卵白ソース。 Here are shrimp and vegetable stir-fry Rod ordered and shrimp with egg white sauce Rod's mother ordered. じゃじゃ〜〜ん！これが私が頼んだお寿司！（＾＾） Tah-dah! This is sushi what I ordered! 巻物は、左がスパイシーツナロールで、右がスパイシーシュリンプロールです。 The rolls on the left is spicy tuna rolls and on the right is spicy shrimp rolls. 久々のレストランでのお寿司は、とても美味しかったです！（＾＾） Since it had been a long time to have sushi at a restaurant so it was excellent! という事で、充実したレイバー・デーでした！

みなさん、こんにちは！ Hi, everyone! 今の気温は２５℃、湿度３７％と気持ちの良いお天気のニューヨークです！ It is 25 degrees C and humidity is 37 % now so it is beautiful in New York! ASKAママさんの真似をして、空の写真を撮ってみました！（＾＾） I mimicked ASKA mama-san and I took a photo of the sky! 撮れたての写真です！太陽を初めて撮ったけど、結構ちゃんと撮れてる。。。かな？！（＾＾；） I just took the photo! It was the first time to take a photo of the sun, but it looks good...I think. この時期はもっと暑くなるはずなのに、まだこの夏は３０℃に達していないと思います。 It is supposed to be much hotter this time of year but it hasn't reached to 30 degrees C yet this summer. 暑い夏はどこに行ってしまったのでしょう？！（−−；） Where did the hot summer go?! Well, It is comfortable so I shouldn't complain... この前、日本食スーパーに行った時に、無料で貰ってきたものがあります。 When we went to a Japanese supermarket the other day, I picked up something for free. それは、ニューヨークの情報誌なんです。これは両方とも週刊ですが、日刊の物もあります。 That was information paper of New York. These are both weekly but there is a daily one as well. マンハッタンのレストランのクーポン券や、 They provide coupons for restaurants in Manhattan, レストランの情報やイベントの紹介など、いろいろな案内が載っています。 and lot of guidance such as information of restaurants and introducing events. 日本語の話せるお医者さんなどの情報も載っています。 There is also information of Japanese-speaking doctors. これは以前の物ですが、日本のいろいろな事を英語で紹介する無料の雑誌もありますよ。 This is an old one but there is another free magazine, introducing many Japanese things in English. こうゆう雑誌があると、日本人好みのレストランやお店の情報が分かって便利だし、こちらで生活している 日本人の方々の頑張ってる様子なども紹介されているので、なんだか元気が出てきます！（＾＾） It is very convenient to know Japanese taste restaurants and also it is very good to know that people live here working hard and accomplish a dream, so it makes me cheer up! |

みなさん、こんにちは！ Hi, everyone! 今日は、車で１５分くらいの所にある日本食スーパー"大道"に行って来ました！！（＾＾） Today, we went to a Japanese supermarket "Daido" that is 15 minutes away by car!! 日本食スーパーに行くのはなんと７ヶ月ぶり！！！（＠＠） It's been 7 months to go to a Japanese supermarket!! 日本食で食べたい物がたくさんあったし、久しぶりだったので＄３００（約３万円）近く買ってしまいました！ I was dying for many Japanese foods and it's been a long time so we spent almost $300 (about\30,000）! When you come to the supermarket, it is like being in a supermarket in Japan! 数々のお惣菜。Many kinds of prepared foods. 手前が日本の野菜で、奥はお魚やシーフード。 Japanese vegetables are at the front and some fish and seafoods are at the back. わ〜〜い！日本のお弁当やおにぎり！（＾＾）Yeah!! Japanese box lunchs and rice balls! 本当に日本のスーパーみたいでしょう！It is really like a supermarket in Japan! そして、嬉しいことに、日本のシャンプーや洗顔料、キッチン用品なども売っています。 And, I am glad that they sell Japanese shampoos, cleansing foams and things for the kitchen. 早速買ってきた鮭おにぎりといくら巻きをお昼に食べて、大福をおやつに！！美味しかった〜〜！！（＾＾） I had a salmon rice ball and a salmon roe roll for lunch and a rice cake stuffed with bean paste for a snack!! They were delicious!!! そして、今はカッパえびせんを食べてます！！でも、パッケージは日本のとは随分違うみたいだけど。。。 And now, I am eating "Kappaebisen"!! However, I guess its package is very different from Japanese ones. 午後からは、今年初のプールに入って遊びました！（＾＾） In the afternoon, I enjoyed our pool for the first time this year! The water was still little cold, but it was very refreshing! では、皆さん、素晴らしい一週間を！！（＾＾）
