みなさん、こんにちは！ Hi, everybody! ご無沙汰しております！（＾＾；） It's been a long time! 最近はバタバタとしていて、なかなか更新できなくてごめんなさい。（＞＜） We've been hectic lately so I am sorry that I could not updated for a long time. 実は、1か月前にロッドのお母さんが脳卒中で倒れてしまいました。 As a matter of fact, Rod's mother had a stroke a month ago. 私たちがお母さんの家に引っ越ししてから約3週間経った頃でした。 It had been about three weeks since we moved into her house. ロッドが朝出かける前にベッドの横に倒れているお母さんを発見しました。 Rod found her lying down on the side of her bed before he was off to work in the morning. 後で分かったことですが、脳卒中は発症後の3時間が非常に重要だそうで、 状況からみて義母は2時間程経過していたようです。 I later discovered that the first three hours of a stroke is critically important, and it had been two hours for her case according to her situation. 本当に引っ越しして良かった。。。 I am so glad we moved... 救急病院からリハビリテーション病院に移り、今はリハビリのできる介護施設に入居しています。 She stayed at an emergency hospital and moved to a rehabilitation hospital later, then now she is at a rehabilitation & health care center. 脳卒中の特徴で片半身に麻痺があるため、左手・左脚が動かせない状態です。 Paralyzing one side of the body is accentuated in strokes, she cannot move neither left hand nor left leg. Since she was so active and lively before, it is hard to see her in bed in pain. それでも、家に帰るために毎日一生懸命リハビリを続けています。 However, she is working hard to do the rehabilitation to go home everyday. We don't really know how much she can recover as she is 89 years old, but I want her to come home. このことをブログに書こうかどうか迷いましたが、みなさんに近況をお知らせすると共に、私自身の記録として 書くことに決めました。 I hesitated to write about this on my blg, but I would like you guys to know about my situation and also I want to post it as my record. なので、ブログの更新はさらに不定期になってしまうと思いますが、どうぞこれからもよろしくお願いします。

みなさん、こんにちは！ Hi, everybody! ご無沙汰しております！（＾＾；） It's been a long time! 日本は今、ゴールデンウィーク中なんですよね！いいな〜！ It's a middle of Golden Week now in Japan! I am jealous! 私と主人は普通に働いております。（＾＾） My husband and I are working as usual. 実は、今月（4月）引っ越しをしたんです。 Actually, we moved this month (April). 以前は借家でしたが、今回はロッドのお母さんの家に引っ越しました。 We rented a house before, but we moved into Rod's mother's house this time. 結婚して5年が経ち、様々な状況が変わり、ロッドのお母さんも89歳になることから、 思い切って同居することにしました。 It's been five years since we got married and things have been changed. Plus, Rod's mother will be 89 soon so we decided to move in there. ただ、同居と言っても、私たちは2階の2部屋をベッドルームとリビングルームとして使用でき、 バスルームも別に付いています。 Even I say living together with his mother, we can use two rooms on the second floor as a bed room and a living room, and we have a bath room separately. 食事に関しても、私たちはお店で昼食・夕食を作って食べるので、義母との台所争いはありません。（＾＾；） Regarding meals, we make and have lunch and dinner at the shop so there is no kitchen war with mother-in-law. 引っ越しして3週間くらいになりますが、私たちが夜帰ってくることで、義母も嬉しいようです。 It's been almost three weeks, she is happy about it because we come home every night. そこで、今回は家の中の様子を少しお見せします。 So, I will show you the house little bit this time. こちらはダイニングルーム。 Here is a dining room. 1階のリビングルーム。 Living room on the first floor. ロッドの父親が日本やアジアのアートが好きだったことや、友人からもらった物など、 日本を感じさせる装飾品がこの家の中にはたくさんあるんです。 Since Rod's father liked Japanese and Asian art and some friends gave some to Rod's parents, there are many Japanse inspired decorative things in the house. この３つの飾りは春夏秋冬を表しているようですが、１つ足りません。。。（＾＾；） These three things show four seasons but one is missing... 右側のお人形は日本人形のような感じですが、左のお人形と大きな扇は中国っぽい感じ。 The doll on the right looks like a Japanese doll, but the other one and the big fan look like Chinese. そして、お庭には色とりどりのお花が咲いています。 Then, there are lots of colorful flowers in the yard. 奥の噴水のある所はゴルフコースなんです。 The fountain in the back is a golf course. 良い点はジェットバスが付いていること！（＾＾） The good thing is we have a jet bath! 悪い点はゴルフ場の整備が朝早くから始まること。。。 The bad thing is the golf course people start early to maintain the golf course... まあ、どこに住んでも良い点・悪い点はありますからね。（＾＾；） Well, there are always pros and cons wherever you live. 義母がアメリカ人だからか、嫁と姑の問題もなく、今のところ順調です。 We don't have any problems between my mother-in-law and I maybe because she is American, and so far, so good. Well, I am away from home most of the time anyway. それでは、最後に4月のマイロ＆マーフィーのカレンダーです。（もう日本は5月ですが） At the end, here is Milo & Murphy's April calendar (although it is already May in Japan). 今月は2ワンの同じポーズ特集です。（＊＾＾＊） The topic for the month is that two dogs are in synch. それでは、また5月中に更新しますね〜！！

みなさん、こんにちは！お元気ですか？（＊＾＾＊） Hi, everyone! How are you doing? あっという間に、もうすぐ7月ですね〜〜！（＠＠） Before we know it, it is almost July! 今年の5月は、パーティーをお店で開くことが多く、とても忙しくしていました。 Last May, we were very busy holding many parties at the shop. というのも、いつも美味しいお料理を作ってくれる義弟のジョーの家のキッチンを改装中のため、 ロッドと私でおもてなしをすることに。。。（＾＾；） That's because our brother-in-law, Joe who always cooks delicious dishes for us could not cook due to remodeling of the kitchen. So we had to host parties... 毎月のカークラブのミーティングに加えて、母の日、友人のお母様の誕生日パーティーなど 毎週のようにパーティーを開き、30日のメモリアル・デーの頃には疲れきっていました。（＾＾；） We held a party almost every weekend such as a Mother's Day party and our friend's mother's birthday party in addition to the monthly car club meeting. So we were exhausted around the Memorial Day on the 30th. メモリアル・デーの詳しい説明は以前の記事をご参照ください。 Please refer to the previous article for further information about Memorial Day. ということで、今回は5月のいろいろなパーティーのお料理を紹介します。（＾＾） So, I will show you variety of the party dishes we had in May. まずは前菜から。カプレーゼとグワッカモレ（アボカドのディップ）は私が作りました。 At first, here are appetizers. I made the caprese and the guacamole (avocade dip). こちらはロッドが作ったベーコンチーズフライです。とっても美味しかったですよ！（＊＾＾＊） Here are bacon cheese fries that Rod made. It was so good! ロッドの作ったソーセージ＆ペッパー。そのまま食べても美味しいけど、ロールパンにはさむと最高！ Sausage and pepper Rod made. It is good to have it as is, but with a roll, it is excellent! こちらはチキンのシシカバブ。 These are chicken shish kebab. 私の好きなハラミのステーキ。フィレ肉の時もありました！写真を撮り忘れましたが。（＾＾；） My favorite, skirt steak. We had filet mignon as well! I forgot to take a picture though. こちらはお友達が作って持って来てくれたポテトとペッパーなどをオーブンで焼いたもの。 Here is oven-baked potato and pepper which our friend made and brought. 私が作ったチャーハン。人気があって、直ぐに無くなりました。（＾＾） Here is fried rice that I made. It was popular and was gone quickly. ガーリックブレッド。 Garlic bread. デザートのケーキです。友達がパウンドケーキを焼いて、フルーツもシロップ漬けにして持ってきてくれました！ Here is a cake as a dessert. Our friend baked the pound cake and brought along with syruped fruit! 自分で好きなケーキが作れる感じで楽しかったし、とっても美味しかったです！（＊＾＾＊） It was like you could make your own cake, so it was fun and delicious! スイカも食べましたよ！楕円形のスイカで、甘くてジューシーでした。 We had some watermelon as well! It was an oval-shaped one and sweet and juicy. 他にもサラダやトウモロコシ、勿論ホットドックやハンバーガーもありました。 There were other dishes such as salad, corn and of course, we had hot dogs and hamburgers. 久しぶりにマイロとマーフィーのビデオか写真を載せようと思っていましたが、無理のようです。（＾＾；） I wanted to upload some Milo and Murphy's photos or a video after so long, but I cannot make it today. I will do it next time to show you their puppyish photos for sure! |

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! 今の気温は１２℃。今日は一日中雨のニューヨークです。 It is 12 degrees C now. It's been raining all day in New York. 先々週の土曜日にニューヨーク州、コネチカット州、ニュージャージー州のエリアに 大きな暴風雨が直撃しました。 Two Saturdays ago, a big rain storm hit the tri-state area (NY, CT, NJ) very hard. 私たちのお店は大丈夫でしたが、家の辺りが大変なことに。。。（−−；） Our shop was OK but around our house was desaster... 雪解け水と大雨で土がぬかるんでいたところに、局地的に突風が吹いたため 大きな木がたくさん倒れたんです。 The snowmelt and the heavy rain loosed many tree roots and spotted gusting resulted in falling down many big trees. 私たちはお店に泊まりました。 Since our next-door friend called Rod telling him that no electricity and very dangerous so we stayed at the shop on the day. もしその日に帰っていたらロッドの車は大きな被害を受けたと思います。（−−；） On the next day, Rod went to the neighborhood and saw a big tree fell down at the spot Rod always park his car. So if we had gone home on the day, his car would have been destroyed... 私たちの家は大丈夫でしたが、電気と水道、テレビ、インターネットが使えなかったので、 ５日間お店に寝泊りしてました。 Our house was OK but there were no electricity, water, TV and the Internet so we stayed at the shop for five days. We used an air-mattress and some sleeping bags for camping as a bed and slept like this in the office. ２ワンと２にゃんは喜んでいたみたいです。（＾＾） Our two dogs and two cats were excited to sleep with us. シャワーもキャンプ用の簡易シャワーを使って、ロッドがこんなシャワーブースを お店の中に作ってくれました。 Rod made this shower booth by using a simple shower for camping in the shop. お店の地下にはロッドのいろんな物がとってあるのですが、エアーマットレスとシャワーには さすがにびっくりしました。（＾＾；） There are many Rod's belongings in the basement but I was surprised to see the air-mattress and the shower. However, they were very useful. 呆然としました。 Two days later, I took some pictures when we went home to pick up necessary stuff. I was staggered by the catastrophic situation. 友達の家には大きな木が直撃しました。 Our friend's house got hit by a big tree. 友達の車も木の下敷きに。。。（＞＜） His car is under a tree... こんなに大きな木が倒れるなんて、本当に驚きです！ｶﾞ━━━(゜Д゜; )━( ゜Д)━ﾝ I was amazed that the big trees fell down so easily! ビデオも撮ったので良かったら見てくださいね。大きな木やフェンスが倒れているのが分かります。 I also took a video so please take a look. You can see trees and fences fell down. 今は電気、水道は使えますが、まだテレビとインターネットが使えません。（−−；） Now, the electoricity and water are back but TV and the Internet are not yet. なので、お店で夕食を食べて夜１０時過ぎに家に帰っています。 So we have dinner at the shop and go home around 10 PM. ちなみに、お店には冷蔵庫、オーブン、電子レンジ、テレビ、インターネット、洗濯機、 乾燥機などが揃っています。（＾＾） For your information, we have refrigerator, oven, microwave, TV, the Internet, washer and dryer at the shop. 大変だったと思います。 We are lucky to have the shop but our neighbors and victims of the disaster are having a hard time. Even for us, we were very tired in a strange situation. 今回人生で初めて自然災害を経験しましたが、みんな無事で本当に良かったと思っています。
This was my first experience of natural disaster in my life, I am just happy that no one got hurt. Molly who stayed at home is also OK! Our friend took care of her sometimes. Over all, we are safe and OK! I just wanted to inform you of this! |

みなさん、こんにちは！ Hi, everyone! 今日も曇りや雨の一日です。（−−；） It is cloudy and rainy again today. 今日は、お店の近くにある小さなショッピングセンターを紹介します。 Today, I will show you a small shopping mall near the shop. ここには、KFCや小さな中華料理店、Sleepy's（寝具店）などが入っています。 There are KFC, a small Chinese restaurant, Sleepy's and so on at the shopping mall. My favorite store among them is this "APPLE FARM." Who is the guy in the photo?! ここにも写ってます！（＾＾）Here is the guy again! :D ここはたくさんの種類の新鮮な野菜を安く売っているお店なのです！スーパーで買うより安くて新鮮です。 This store sells many kinds of fresh vegetables at a low price! It is much fresher and cheaper than a supermarket. そして、ここでは韓国のカップラーメンも売っているのです！ Then, they also sell Korean instant noodles! ６種類くらいの種類があるのですが、どれも辛くて美味しいのです！（＾＾） There are about six kinds of them and they are all spicy and good! アメリカのカップラーメンは美味しくないものが多いので、麺大好きの私にとっては欠かせないものとなってます。 Not so many instant noodles sold in the US are good so the noodles are must-have for me as a noodle fan. もう一つの面白いお店は"Edible"というお店です。 The other interesting shop is "Edible." このお店はフルーツを花束のようにアレンジして売っているお店なんです! This shop sells fruit which is arranged like bouquet flowers. とっても華やかだし、実際に食べられるのはとっても良いですよね！ It is very gorgeous and very nice that you can actually eat it! しかも、ケーキよりもずっとヘルシーです！（＾＾） Plus, it is much much healthier than a cake! 私は実際にロッドのお母さんの８５歳の誕生日の時に頂きました！とても美味しかったです！ I actually had it on Rod's mother's 85th birthday! It was very good! こうゆうのがあると、パーティーとかが華やかになって良いですね！ It would be very nice to have it at a party that brings you a bright atmosphere! では、みなさん素敵な日曜日を！（＾＾） Well, have a wonderful Sunday, everyone! |
