It's been a long time! 素敵なクリスマスを過ごされましたか？ Did you have a nice Christmas? 私たちはいつものように、主人の妹さん夫妻や甥と一緒にたくさんのご馳走をいただきました。 We had very good dishes with Rod's sister, her husband and her son as usual. さて、今日はクリスマスシーズンのマンハッタンの写真をお見せします。 So, I would like to show you some photos of Christmas season in Manhattan. アメリカではクリスマスが終わってもイルミネーションはそのまま続き、1月6日頃まで飾られています。 In the US, Christmas decorations are continue to be lit even after Christmas until around January 6th next year. First, Inside of Grand Central Terminal. 有名な五番街。 Famous Fifth Avenue. ロックフェラーセンターのクリスマスツリーとその周辺。 Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and around the tree. カルティエのお店。 Cartier boutique. トナカイのイルミネーション。 Illuminated reindeers. もう今年もあとわずかとなりました。今年は日本に帰国できて本当に良い年でした。
New year is just around the corner. This year was a very good year to me because I was able to go back to Japan. I wish everyone will have a wonderful year! |

みなさん、こんにちは！お元気ですか？（＊＾＾＊） Hi, everybody! How are you doing? 今日の最高気温はなんと19℃！！（＠＠） Today's daytime high is 19 degrees Celsius!! 記録的な暖冬で楽な冬を過ごしましたが、昨日と今日はまるで夏のようなお天気です！ We had a record warm winter in NY, and it's been like summer since yesterday! でも、明日からは平年並みに戻りそうです。 However, the temperature is going down to the average from tomorrow. 今日はマンハッタンの記事です。 Today, I will write about Manhattan. 先日、久しぶりにマンハッタンのソーホーにショッピングに行ってきました。 The other day, I went shopping to SOHO in Manhattan after a long time. ソーホーはマンハッタンの中でも有名な高級ブランドからカジュアルなお店まで、 数多くのお店が集まるとってもお洒落なエリアなんです。 SOHO is a very stylish area in Manhattan, holding many shops from famous luxury brand boutiques to casual clothing stores. まず、こちらはアニエスベー。 At first, this is Agnes B. こちらはプラダ。ここでは全てのラインが揃っているそうです。 Here is Prada. This shop has the entire lines of Prada. 日本のブランドも人気がありますよ！無印良品です。（＾＾） Japanese brands are popular as well! This is MUJI. こちらはユニクロ。ウインドウディスプレイが改装中なのでしょうか？（＾＾；） This one is UNIQLO. The window display is under renovation? 写真でも分かるように、ユニクロには多くのお客さんが集まっていて、すごく活気がある感じでした。 As you can see from the photo, UNIQLO had a lot of customers and a lively atmosphere. あまり写真は撮りませんでしたが、この後もブルーミングデールズ（デパート）やＨ＆Ｍ、マイケルコース、 トミーヒルフィガー、アナスイなどなどたくさんのお店を見て回りました。 I did not take many pictures but I went window-shopping at many places after this, such as Bloomingdale's (department store), H&M, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Anna Sui and so on. 3時間半くらいショッピングをして、お腹がぺこぺこ、脚が棒になった私ですが、どうしても行きたかった レストランに向かって歩き続けました。（＾＾；） I walked about three and half hours so I was very hungry and my legs were shot. However, I had a restaurant that I really wanted to go so I just kept walking. そして、ついに到着しました！！（＊＾＾＊）一風堂です！！ Then, I got there finally!! It is Ippudo!! 日本に居た頃は、よくお昼に食べに行ったりしていたので、是非ＮＹでもここのラーメンを食べたかったんです。 When I was in Japan, I often went to the restaurant for lunch, so I've always wanted to have their noodles. せっかくなので、マグロのタルタルもいただきました。 Since I came here all the way, I had a tuna tartar as well. これはとってもとっても美味しかったです！！3つくらい食べれそうでした。（＾＾） It was very very good!! I could have had it three more. そして、とうとう念願の赤丸ラーメン！ Finally, I got Akamaru ramen! 食べ始めてから写真を撮ったので、あまり美しくないですね。。。（＾＾；） Since I took the picture after I had some, it does not look good... それに、温玉を注文するのを忘れたことに気が付き、後から追加してもらいました。 ラーメンの注文の仕方を忘れてしまったみたい。。。 Plus, I realized that I forgot to order a poached egg, so I order it later. I guess I forgot how to order ramen... 久しぶりに食べた一風堂のラーメンはすごく美味しくて、大満足でした！（＊＾＾＊） The ramen at Ippudo was excellent after a long time, so I was very satisfied! 一風堂から歩いて直ぐの地下鉄のアスタープレイス駅には、こんなに大きな四角いオブジェがあります。 At the subway station, Astor Place near Ippudo, there is a huge box-shaged object. くるくると回るはずなのに、私が押しても回りませんでした。（＾＾；） It is supposed to be spun around but it didn't even I pushed it. とっても疲れましたが、楽しくて、エキサイティングな日でした。（＊＾＾＊） I was exhausted but it was a fun and exciting day. 最後に3月のマイロ＆マーフィーのカレンダーです。 At the end, Milo and Murphy's March calendar. それでは、また来月更新しますね〜！！（＊＾＾＊） OK, guys, I will update next month!! |

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! 今の気温は１℃。大きなストームが近づいているので朝から雪、みぞれ、雨が 代わる代わる降っています。 It is 1 degrees C now. A big storm is approaching so it's been snowing, sleeting, raining in turns since this morning. もう雪は要らないので＾＾；、これからはずっと雨になってくれることを願っています。 We don't want snow anymore so I am hoping it is going to be rain from now on.  先月マンハッタンに行った時に、他の写真をアップすると言っていたのに すっかり忘れていました。（＾＾；） When I went to Manhattan last month, I was going to post some other pictures but I complety forgot about it. 今日はその時の写真をアップしますね！（＾＾） So, I will post them today! まずは、地下鉄の駅を降りてすぐに目に付いたオブジェクト。 後ろのビルはトランプインターナショナルホテルです。 At first, here is an object that cought my eyes after I got off the subway. The building behind is Trump International Hotel. 着いたのはコロンバスサークル。名前の通り道が円形になっています。 The place I got was Columbus Circle. As the name shows, there is a roundabout. コロンバスサークルのランドマークはタイムワーナーセンターで、低層階には 多くのお店やレストランが入っています。 Columbus Circle's landmark is Time Warner Center which has many shops and restaurants on the lower floors. 中の様子はこんな感じ。ヘンリーママさんの好きなWILLIAMS-SONOMAもありますよ！（＾＾） The inside looks like this. There is WILLIAMS-SONOMA which Henry mom-san likes! ウインドウショッピングをしたあと向かったのは３階のBouchon bekery. After window-shopping, I was headed to Bouchon bekery on the third floor. あるのですが、その有名シェフ、トーマス・ケラー氏が経営しているカフェが こちらのBouchon bekeryなのです！ Actually, a French restaurant that has 3 star rating in the Michelin Gide owned by renowned chef, Thomas Keller is on the fourth floor and he owns Bouchon bekery as well! I bought coffee, focaccia, some souvenir at this cafe that you can takeout. こちらは喫茶店スタイルのカフェ。This one is a coffee house style cafe. この後は急いで目的地に向かったので、結局フォカッチャは家で食べましたが、 サン・ドライドトマトと炒めた玉ねぎのコンビネーションが絶妙ですっごく美味しかったです！ 絶対また食べたいな〜！（＊＾＾＊） I rushed to go to my destination after that so I ended up eating focaccia at home but the combination of sun-dried tomato and sauteed onion were so good that it was excellent! I want to have it again for sure! お土産は私用にマカロンとロッド用にショートクッキー。走ったのでマカロンが崩れてます。（＾＾；） The souvenirs are macarons for myself and some short cookies for Rod. Some macarons are broken because I ran. どちらも上品なお味でとても美味しかったです！（＊＾＾＊） They both had sophisticated flavors and were very good! 私の行ける範囲で行ってみたいと思っています。（＾＾） Manhattan is full of nice shops and good restaurants so I would love to go many places where I can afford it. |

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! 記事の続きを直ぐに書こうと思っていたら、急な仕事が入ってしまって。。。（＾＾；） I was going to write the sequel of the last article right away but I got a hurry-up job... I've been working as a translator little by little since the end of last year. I finally finished the job so today's article is the sequel of the last article that I went to Manhattan to see Miyukina's opera! Miyukinaさんとご主人と私でチョコレート大好きなお二人とチョコレート屋さんに向かいました。（＾＾） Miyukina and her husband who are chocoholic and I were headed to a chocolate shop after that. While we were walking, the buildings were beautiful there so I took some pictures of them. 地下鉄の駅も素敵ですよね！（＊＾＾＊） The subway station is cool as well! そして、チョコレート屋さんのJacqes Torres Chocolateに到着。 Then, we got the chocolate shop, Jacqes Torres Chocolate. 中にはたくさんの種類の美味しそうなチョコレートがありましたよ〜！ They have so many kinds of delicious chocolates inside the shop! ここでホットチョコレートを頂きながらお喋り。ホットチョコレートの写真は忘れました。（＾＾；） We had hot chocolete there and chatted for a while. I forgot to take a photo of the hot chocolate... I had caramel hot chocolate. It warmed me up and was very very good! その後は、地下鉄でグランドセントラル駅に行き、日系のお店「めんちゃんこ亭」に行きました！（＾＾） After that, we took subway and went to Grand Central Terminal and went to a Japanese restaurant called " Menchanko-tel"! 写真がブレブレでごめんなさい！（＞＜） Sorry about the poor quality of the photo! そして、久しぶりのとんこつラーメン！！！（＊＾＾＊）きゃあ〜〜！！美味しい！！ Then, I had pork bone broth noodles after such a long time!! Wow! Delicious!! やっぱりお店で食べるラーメンは美味しいな〜〜！！ Ramen noodles at a restrant is certainly good!! I would love to go to Ippudo next time! ちなみに、マンハッタンにはラーメンせたが屋や他のラーメン屋さんがたくさんあるし、 お隣のニュージャージー州にはらーめん山頭火もありますよ！（＾＾） For your information, there are ramen noodle shops including "Ramen Setagaya" in Manhattan and there is "Ramen Santoka" in New Jersey which is next to New York! なかなか行けないのが辛いのですが、日本に帰らなくても食べれるのは嬉しいですね！（＊＾＾＊） Even though I cannot go to any ramen shops here so often, I am happy that I don't need to go back to Japan for it! 今回はMiyukinaさんとご主人とご一緒出来たし、とても楽しい時間を過ごせました！（＊＾＾＊） I was able to see Miyukina and her husband this time and I had a great time with them! And, I got some power from Miyukina by listening her beautiful singing voice! 初めてブログのお友達と実際にお会いしましたが、本当に以前からの知り合いのような気がしました。（＾＾） This was the first time to actually meet someone through this blog, but I felt like I had known her for a long time. Miyukinaさんと出会わなかったら、オペラの世界を知ることも無かったと思います。 If I had not met Miyukina, I don't think I would have known about opera world. Miyukinaさん、そしてご主人、お付き合い頂いてありがとうございました！（＊＾＾＊） Thank you very much Miyukina and Masao for spending some times with me! これからもできる限り応援しますので、頑張ってください！！ I will support you as much as possible so make your dream come true!! |

みなさん、こんにちは！（＾＾） Hi, everyone! 最近のニューヨークは暖かくて、今の気温は６℃。 It's been warm in New York lately and now it is 6 degrees C. It is very mild this time of a year in New York so I am very happy about it!  さて、昨日の日曜日はマンハッタンに行ってきました！（＾＾） Now then, I went to Manhattan last Sunday! ブログのお友達、Miyukinaさんのオペラを見に行ったのです。（＊＾＾＊） It is because I went to see my blog friend, Miyukina's opera! Miyukinaさんはフィラデルフィアにお住まいで、オペラ歌手を目指しながら日本語を大学で教え、 翻訳の仕事もなさっている才能あふれる方なのです。 Miyukina lives in Philadelphia, aspiring opera singer and teaches Japanese at university and also works as a translator so she is very talented. This gifted Miyukina-san's blog is here. 今回マンハッタンでコンサート形式のオペラにMiyukinaさんが出演されると聞き、 是非歌声を聴いてみたいと思い行ってみました！ Since I heard that she would make an appearance on the concert version of opera in Manhattan, I would love to hear her singing voice! Plus, the admission free was free!! I've got to go! あいにくの雨となってしまいましたが、それほど寒くは無かったので良かったです。 Unfortunately, it was raining but at least it was not too cold. 会場となったのは、このリンカーンセンター内のニューヨークパブリックライブラリーにあるホール。 The opera took place a part of this Lincoln Center, The New York Public Library auditorium. 正式名称はThe New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, Bruno Walter Auditoriumです。 The standard nomenclature is The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center Bruno Walter Auditorium. せっかくマンハッタンに行くのだからと、コンサートの前にこの近くのコロンバスサークルで ウインドウショッピングを楽しんでいたら時間が無くなってしまい、急いでタクシーで向かいました。 Since this is a chance to come to Manhattan, I went window-shopping at Columbus Circle near by and I got carried away and rushed into the auditorium by taxi. I took many pictures there so I will show you later! エントランスがなかなか見つからず、やっと発見！（＾＾；） It was difficult to find the entrance for me...Finally, I found it! 無事会場に到着しました！（＾＾） I got there safe and sound! オペラの演目は「皇帝ティートの慈悲」W.A.モーツァルト作曲 です。 The opera is "La Clemenza Di Tito" by W.A. Mozart. 今回はコンサート形式なので、ピアノ演奏と主役の６人が前に出てきて歌い、歌っていない時は 後ろの椅子に座っているという感じでした。 This time was a concert version so six opera singers come to the front of the stage and sing with piano performance, when other opera singers sing, other singers were sitting in chairs. イタリア語なので、何を歌っているかは定かではありませんが＾＾；、あらすじは頭に入れて置いたので どうゆうことが起こっているかは想像がつきました。（＾＾） I couldn't understand what they sang because it was all in Italian but I put the synopsis into my mind before so I was able to imagine what were they doing. ６人の中でもMiyukinaさんは目立っていて、とても感情豊かに歌い、声量も抜群！（＠＠） Miyukina who sang with emotion with her rich soprano voice stood out from the other singers! 見ていませんでした。 Other opera singers always looked at the musical notes but when Miyukina sang solo, she didn't look at them at all. とか想像していたら、なんだかとても感動してしまいました。 As I imagined that she must have practiced a lot and she must have made a furious effort to become a opera singer,I was moved by her singing. 本物のオペラなら舞台衣装も華やかで、オーケストラも入り、舞台セットも素晴らしいんでしょうね！ If it is a real opera, costumes are gorgeous, there is an orchestra, and scenes are splendid! I would love to see real opera at a opera house for once. ２時間１０分後にオペラが終了。 After two hours and ten minutes, the opera was over. Miyukinaさんとお話出来るかな？！と思いながら、会場内で少し待っていると出演者が続々と出てきました。 I was wondering if I could talk to Miyukina and waiting for a while at the site, the other singers were coming out. そして無事にMiyukinaさんと会うことが出来たのです！（＊＾＾＊） Then, I was able to meet Miyukina there! 一緒に居る時にも観客の方々に「ブラボー」などの声援を受けていましたよ！ When I was with Miyukina, some audience cheered her with "Bravo!" After that, Miyukina asked me if I was available and we went out with her husband! 長くなってしまったので、この続きは明日書きますね！（＾＾；） This article is too long already so I will post the rest of the story tomorrow! 楽しみにしていて下さいね〜〜！（＊＾＾＊） Please look forward to it! |
