Adieu part 2

The beginning of the new year, the shocking news was announced by Miss White to the class. Some girls
were devastated by the idea of Nico leaving them and screamed, "No, no, no! Nico, this is a joke. Right?"
"I'm arfaid not." Nico said awkwardly, "But I'll be back after a year, you know."
"But how can we survive this school life without you, Nico? It would be deadly boring again."
"Hey, come on! I'm not the one who tried to change things around here. You did, too."
"Because you are with us."
"You know it is not true, right? What we have achieved here is a bit more freedom to think, talk, act on our own ways, haven't we? You don't need anyone to tell you what to do. Right? "
"Oh, Nico, that is right...but we will miss you so much."
"I will, too. I certainly will. But this is what I want to do right now. Would you help me out?"
as Nico said, tears filling up her big and round eyes.
"Hey, she needs our support now. We've gotta give her that!" one girl shouted.
"Yeah, we will be with you no matter how far we are apart." another girl said, wiping her eyes.
"Hell ya! Ooops shouldn't have said that..." a third one said and covered her mouth with her hands
comically, making everyone laugh out loud including Nico.
Then a forth one stood up on her desk with her shoes on and lift her right arm like the Statue of Liberty
and howled, "Freedom!" and others started singing  together "Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!" as they
danced around the classroom, ignoring Miss White's desparate plead, "Order! Order, girls!"
All the noise ceased when Nico put her right arm up high and declared,
"One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice
what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying. "
and added "Joan of Arc" Heartfelt ovation lasted so long with horrible headache Miss White had.

The day before the departure, Nico marched into the teacher's room alone and thanked them including Miss
White for giving her the ticket for further education while Miss White was feeling something acidly bitter on her tongue. The last word of Nico to the girls was just "Adieu."

I suppose she was busy holding back the tears.

Ethics: a pen and a dream can take you anywhere ;-)

Episode 17 Adieu!

After so many troubles Nico caused and protests from girls she raised at school, Miss White started
considering the solution every single day. She can't expell Nico from her sanctuary, school, the perfect
institution for her utopia, for no concrete evidence. Nico was just horribly annoying yet she did work hard
at her studies, gaining quite good reputation among teachers on academic performance. For Miss White,
that was another irritating fact. She needed to come up with something drastic, something mind-blowing
idea even to Nico in order to upset the situation. Nico had become a pillar of mischief, independence,
freedom at an old empire where traditions and morals used to rule. Miss White couldn't stand to see her
comfortably perfect world trembling in the balance beacuse of the girl. But she didn't have a clue what to
do with a girl with instant popularity not only among students but also among her co-workers. More
laughters in a classroom, more cheeky smiles on faces, more interactions between teachers and students, more discussions, more accidents, more problems, more protests. In other words, full of life, messy but
exciting one was back to school. Things become out of control in her view.

Our mind works strangely. When you constantly pay attention on a subject, an answer pops out
unexpectedly.
That's what happend on Miss White: Aha moment finally hit her. That was when Nico's team won the first
prise in a competition for a play that the English department organized as the core attraction of their
project in English education. Nico's group performed revised version of The Sound Of Music, having Nico
playing Maria quite comically yet eloquently. That gave the play a bit of reality, fresh appearance and
sense of entertainment. Also the effort and enthusiasm of all the cast of characters in her group were
undoubtedly evident. Consequently, they got the first prize unanimously.

Miss White didn't miss a chance to get rid of that trouble factor from her realm artfully. She congratuated
Nico as she planted a wild seed of dream into her mind. Which was the possibility to explore somewhere
she had never been, somewhere the whole new world of freedom awaited, somewhere called the united
states of America, the land of liberty! How can a girl like Nico ignore such a wild idea? Miss White
recommended her to apply for the exchange student program. It would give her one year of total freedom
and a chance to get back to her classmates if she wants to. It was the exact bottom she needed to push
to send Nico away.
Fun-loving adventuous girl's heart started dancing around with so much expectations and infinite
possibilities. Nico worked harder than ever in her entire life to be entitled to the incredible opportunity and
got the ticket to freedom.

To be continued.
Octorber is a season for a big fun for most of the girls at Moral Academy because of a school festival.
They were allowed to plan something on their own without supervised by any grown-ups. Nico was one of
the most keen committee member of the event. After the daily heated planning and discussion, they came up with a few plans, a haunted house, a tea house and a planetarium. The committee filled up numerous
papers as flawless as possible to get approval and some subsidy from PTA and turned all the documents
on time. They had done the best they could do and waited patiently.

A week later, they were notified that all of their plans were overruled by the authority for they might cause unimaginable troubles and dangers.
"What the flicking unimaginable troubles and dangers mean!" Nico screamed as she heard the bad news.
"Oh, yeah!" followed other committie members.
"Isn't it supposed to be our festival?"
"Oh, yeah, but..."
"But what?"
"But we need their approval."
"That's exactly why we planned them so carefully, didn't we? They don't have to approve all. But it is
unforgivable unfair to reject them all!"
"But..."
"Enough BUTs, girls. Enough is enough. If they reject all our plans, they should have told us the probability of the total rejection. Or they should have given us a list of possible plans they would allow us to do. Don't you think? But they told us to plan something on our own and reject them all without any negotiation or
compromise. Don't they always tell us to be independent thinker and responsible for what we have
decided?"
"True"
"Ok, Then, that's what we do."
"What do you mean?"
"We do what we have planned."
"How?"
"Well, we will turn in a 'safe' plan, which is like a display of History of Tea or something. We should
mention that we would love to serve some different types of teas along with some sweets to deepen
visitors' understanding for our research. They love such an accademic sound and would approve the plan.
And once we get the budget, we could buy some tea and sweets. We can cover whatever the deficiency by our allowance, right? It wouldn't be more than two weeks worth of Mc Donalds, I'm sure. We can share the
benefit equally. What do you say, girls?"
"What if..."
"Oh, please. No 'what if's. Don't talk like P-bloody-TA. We will notify them that we would 'serve' tea and
sweets' anyway. We just don't need to tell them about the charge. That's all. "
"Ok, then, Let's roll!"

A few days later, their plan was approved with a high complimant.

On the festival day, there was a long queue in front of their Tea House. They all got spotless white
aprons on and serve the tea and sweets in a lady-like manner and even Mrs White was so impressed and proud of their behavior and said,
"Miss Bloomer, I'm quite impressed with your research and the manner you serve the tea for your guests."
"Oh, Mrs White. I'm honored. Thank you."
Nico served her some tea and sweet as she smiled. As Mrs White left the room, Nico said to
Mrs White, "Trick-or-Treat!"

The profit they made on the day was enough for a big party at Mc Donalds. They shouted,
"Trick AND Treat!

Moral: Cross that bridge when we come to it!

Episode15: Duck Training

Some grown-ups still innocently believe kids would behave if they warn them enough or just simply tell
them what to do. However, those ones are blind to a crucial human nature: We tend to do what we are told
NOT to do. Nico is more human than most of human beings.

One day,Mrs White announced about a phone call, reporting that some of students at the accademy went
into a hamburgar shop nearby the station. As she glared at students, she squeaked,
"Girls, this is a great opportunity to make sure that all of you understand this fact that we DO NOT allow
any students for any reasons to stop by any places on the way home. That is unless we have an official
notification from your parents. The witnessed violators of the rule would be expeled without any
exceptions. Am I make myself clear?"
"Yes, Sir." Nico screamed.
"Very well, Miss Bloomer. I hope you really mean it."
"Certainly, Sir!"
She said that "Sir" again with a soldier-like manner. And all the other students giggled.
Mrs White said,
"Miss Bloomer. You think you are funnier than you really are, aren't you? You will be sorry. Oh, yes, you
will."
"I'll make sure not to be, Mrs White. Thank you very much."
"Miss Bloomer, remember I'm watching you." She said as she left the classroom.
At the moment, Nico got a brilliant idea how to avoid getting caught when she enjoyed her evening snack
at a lacal hamburger shop with the gangs.

She gathered the gangs and sais,
"Hey, this is a big challenge. We should be prepared for a state of emergency!"
"What do you mean, Nico?" One of the gangs asked.
"I think Miss White would try to watch us more vigilantly and would use all her network to catch us having a good time at our joint from now on."
"Oh, no."
"No worries, mates! All we need to do is a little training for an emergency."
"What do we do?" the gangs asked excitedly.
"Ok. This is my plan. Our seats are in the upstairs, right? Mrs White wouldn't bother to buy something to
eat to check on us everyday. She would just peek up through the window from the street, I reckon. She can't find us if we go under the table as quick as possible. So, we practice to do so when I give a cue. "
It was crazy but fun enough idea for all the gangs to follow. That's how they sterted their training days.

In the morning before the class starts, they practiced ducking as Nico gave a cue, "White Alarm!" Even
during lunch break, Nico sometimes gave the cue. And eventually more girls wanted to join their deadly
serious game. The training days went on for a while and all the girls mastered how to duck within a few
seconds.

After the training day, Nico and the gangs went back to their joint the first time in a month. While they
indulged in tasting the juicy hamburgers, they had a chance to put their skill into practice. Nico,
the clairvoyante, detected Mrs White, the teacher from hell, on the street just before she takes a peek
through the window and said,
"White Alarm!"

Mrs White didn't find anyone: The gangs enjoyed their hambergers fully till the last bite.

Morals: Lay up for a rainny day and you won't be SORRY.

Episode 14

Even Nico had a quite mellow day. On such a day, she didn't come up with any tricks or any fan ideas. But all the girls always expected her to do something funny or surprising and she hated to make them
disappointed. She would make some funny faces to entertain them during painfully boring classes but those didn't meet her standard. She thought to herself,
"Well, this is so-called burnout. I've got to go there."
"there" means the nurse's room where one of the coolest teacher awaited students give some real care.
Mrs Brown was her name. Nico respected her for her magical skill to read girls' minds. Mrs Brown could
tell what the problem was just by looking at student's face and exchange a few words. That was quite magical to Nico. The coolest character of her was that she never showed her nagative emotions. She was one
of the happiest and calmest and the most charming grown-ups Nico knew. Mrs Brown didn't put the cheesy and disgusting fake smile on her face. Her smiles were always genuine to Nico. She also had a great sense of humor. She reminded Nico of her grandma who never failed to make her laugh or smile. Nico felt safe
and comfy with Mrs Brown. She even faked sick when she needed a break from being Nico, the cheeky girl.

Having had the skill to see the real problem of the person, Mrs Brown must have known her sickness
wasn't real. But she always treated Nico like her friend and welcomed her with a cup of tea. Nico felt
refreshed whenever she had her tea. Nico secretly believed Mrs Brown was a witch, the good one and she put something magical in it. All the unpleasant feelings would vanish and the big cheeky smile came back on her face with the first sip. Once Nico asked her what kind of tea it was and she answered,
"It is a top secret, Nico. I'll give you the recipe when you graduate this school. But you must promise me to graduate. Ok?"
"Yes, of course, Mrs Brown. But I think it is not up to me, you know. I'm afraid some teachers hate me
 being who I am."
"Oh, nonsense. How can anyone hate such a lovely girl. You have a beautiful soul. All you need to know is we are all unique individuals and we should respect each other."
"Yes, I understand. Sometimes I get carried away and do something unrespectable to some teachers. But they are sometimes unreasonable as well.
"Oh, yes. I know that but it doesn't mean you can be unreasonable to them, too. Your harmless tricks are
laughable but they can be annoying to others, you know."
"Yes, indeed, it seems so."
"But Nico remember you are loved so that you can love others. When you can love even the ones you don't like, you would be a real champion. But I haven't achieved the goal yet. Don't you dare to outgrow me."
They chuckled together. Time with Mrs Brown was always like that, peaceful and relaxing. The first cookies Nico ever baked was given to Mrs Brown, the loveliest teacher of all. Nico often brought some sweets to
the nurse's room and Mrs Brown looked absolutely pleased to have a company with something to nibble
with her afternoon tea. Of course, bringing sweets was prohibited by the book of rules but according to Mrs Brown,
"There are always some exceptions and this is one of them."

On the little burnout day, Nico went to see her with some brownies she baked on the previous day. They
sure had a delicious afternoon.

Moral: Good company makes the road shorter and surely brighter
