（もうどれくらい結婚なされているのですか？）

A:Ten years.
（１０年さ。）

A: I am not going to college.
（僕は大学に行かないよ。）

B: Why not?
（何故行かないの？）

A: Because I want to become a soccer player.
（サッカー選手になりたいから。）

＊｢行かない｣という否定文を受けるので　Why not? と尋ねます。
　{育｣という肯定文なら　Why? ｢何故行くの？｣　と尋ねます。

A: My wife always wants the bedroom heater on when it's cold!
（部屋が寒い時に妻はいつもヒーターをつけるんだ！）

B: So what's wrong with that?
（それのどこが悪いんだい？）

A: I get too hot. But I don't want to cross swords with her, so I put up with it.
（暑すぎるんだ。でも言い争いたくないから我慢するのさ。）

A: It's warm for February. Don't you think this is strange.
（２月にしては暖かいわ。変だと思わない？）

B: It's because of global warming.
（地球温暖化が原因さ。）

＊地球温暖化とは　global warming , global heating の他に　greenhouse effect つまり、｢温室効果｣とも言います。
