冬場の『暖房のきかせすぎ』に要注意

                            「冬場の『暖房のきかせすぎ』に要注意　」
                     　”Be careful not to overuse the heater in winter"
               
                　　　　（注： overuse = 〔動〕使いすぎる）
 
１．寒い冬には、どうしてもストーブをガンガン炊いたり、エアコンの暖房を効かせて暖を取りたくなります。
  In cold winter, we are prone to set the heater at high heat or turn the heat up
  on the air conditioner to keep ourselves warm.

 　　　　　     (注：prone 〈形〉〈好ましくないことを〉する傾向がある)
  
２．しかし、過剰な暖房は、エネルギーの無駄遣いであるばかりでなく、健康にとっても
   よくないことをご存しでしょうか。
   However, do you know that excessive heating is not only a waste of energy, but it is not good    

   for the health, either ?
 
３．実は、人間にとって最適な気温を調べる実験が行われたことがありました。
    In fact, an experiment to examine the optimum temperature for humans was conducted.

　

　　（注：human = 〔名〕人、人間(通例は、複数形を使って humans). (総体的にいう場合、human beings）
 
４．まず、男女４人ずつの学生を湿度６０％に保った人工気候室の中に腰掛けさせ、　
    無風状態で室温を２０度から２度刻みで変えてみたのです。
  First of all, students consisting of 4 boys and girls were seated in an artificial climate chamber 

    kept at 60% humidity. the room temperature was changed from 20 degrees in 2 degree segments

   with no wind.
 
５．１月と８月の２回に分けて実験しましたが、このとき、裸の場合と衣服をつけた場合についても

    実験しました。
   Two separate experiments were conducted in January and August, but the experiment was 

      conducted both naked and wearing clothes.

６．しかし裸といっても、男性はパンツ、女性はセパレートの水着を着用していたのです。
   However, naked meaning the men wore pants and the women wore bikinis.

  

    (注：wore = （動）wear の過去形。着用していた。 bikini = 〔名〕女性用の下に分かれて、露出部分の

          多い水着）
 
７．着衣の際は、その上に半袖シャツと作業用の上着を着て、ズボンと靴下も、はきました。
    When wearing clothes, they wore short sleeve shirts and working coats with trousers and socks        

８．この結果、身体のエネルギー消費量が最低になったのは、裸のときは２４度、着衣のときは２２度でした。
     As a result, the lowest energy consumption of the body was 24 degrees when naked, and 22 degrees

    when wearing clothes.
 
９．この温度から上げても下げても、エネルギー消費量は多くなることが分かったのです。
    It turned out that energy consumption increased even if it was raised or lowered from this temperature.
 
10.  このことから分かるように、激冬の日にあまり暖房を効かせ過ぎるのは、健康にとって余りいいこと

       ではないわけです。
    As you can see from this, overheating on a severe　cold winter day is not so good for  the health.
