笑って歌おう -- ブレイク

「今日の詩」はウィリアム・ブレイクの「笑って歌おう」である。私のブレイクの絵画には大変興味があるが、私が最初に出会った詩の印象は良くなかった。たった２本の詩で判断してはいけないが、何のひねりもなく、他愛ないような気がした。

Laughing Song

When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;

when the meadows laugh with lively green,
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene,
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing "Ha, ha he!"

When the painted birds laugh in the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread:
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of "Ha, ha, he!"

緑の森が歓声をあげて笑えば
小川の細波は笑いながら流れる。
大気が人の陽気とともに笑えば
緑の丘は音を立てて笑うもの。

牧場が鮮やかな緑と微笑めば
バッタは陽気な舞台で微笑む。
メリーとスーザンとエメリーが歌えば
愛らしく口を開けて「ハ、ハ、ハ！」

色鮮やかな鳥が木陰で歌えば
食卓に桜ん坊と木の実が並べば
いらっしゃいよ、楽しく一緒に
コーラスしましょう「ハ、ハ、ハ！」

楽しい詩ですね。それに･･･この画像美味しそう。
"Ha, ha, he!"最後のhaだけheなんですね。おもしろい。

EmilyのかわりにAnnaにすれば第２詩節は"Ha, ha ha!"で終われます。
When Mary and Susan and Anna
With their sweet round mouths sing "Ha, ha ha!"
と出来ますが、
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of "Ha, ha, he!"
ではどうしてもhe！にせざるを得ないです。
それに外人の女の子がどう笑うのか知りませんけど。
