不安な時 -- キーツ

「今日の詩」の選者が送ってきたのは２６歳で夭折したキーツ最晩年の詩であろう。書いて、書いて、その収穫を倉庫（本）に入れる前に死ぬのではという考えに取りつかれた時のキーツの感慨を書いている、と解釈した。

When I Have Fears

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high-piled books, in charactery,
Hold like rich garners the full ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour,
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love;--then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.

不安な時

僕のペンが頭脳の収穫を拾う前に
山と書き込まれた本が倉庫のように
豊饒の作物を収容する前に死ぬのではと
僕は不安にかられる。
僕は見詰める、星を散りばめた夜空の上に
高尚なロマンスの大きな雲のような象徴。
偶然の魔法の手により、生きながらえて
影を追うことはないと僕は思う。
一時間かけた素晴しい成果！
僕は二度とお前を見ないと感じるとき
甲斐なき愛の魔法の力で慰めはしない
― 広い世界の浜辺に
独り立って、思索すれば
愛とか名誉心も消えて無になる。

Ah, he died at the age of 26? It is sad...His poem <When I Have Fears> seems more sad.

His father died accidentally. His mother contracted tuberculosis. His younger brother died of the decease. He survived his brother only three years. It is fatal in the 19th century. But his poetry was not evaluated. His epitaph is in Rome, "Here lies one whose name was written in water".

なんだか、壮大な夢をみているキーツが目に浮かびますが・・・？

夢をみていますが、死が近付ていることを自覚しています。

よくわかりませんが、自分の死が近づくと感覚的に
分るらしいですね。

苦しい病気です。26歳で眠るようにとはいきません。ナイチンゲールの詩がありますが、苦しい、苦しいと言っています。
