「今日の詩」はスティ−ヴンソンの平安の一日の終わりを表現した詩である。「今日の詩」はスティ−ヴンソンの初期の詩かもしれないし、人生の最後を暗示しているともとれる内容である。

When The Sun Come After Rain

When the sun comes after rain
And the bird is in the blue,
The girls go down the lane
Two by two.

When the sun comes after shadow
And the singing of the showers,
The girls go up the meadow,
Fair as flowers.

When the eve comes dusky red
And the moon succeeds the sun,
The girls go home to bed

雨の後日が出て

スティーヴンソンが１９世紀の不治の病である結核を診断され、意識した時期を調べたわけではないし、この詩を書いた時を調べてはいません。もちろん調べることは可能です。それを調べることの意味は素人にあるのかどうか疑問であります。
