「今日の詩」の選者が送ってきたのはキーツの “Where's The Poet?” 「詩人は何処にいる」である。キーツは人生の辛酸を舐めながら、新しい詩を書き続けたが、既成の詩壇から手ひどく叩かれた。私にはその先入観があるので、彼の詩壇への不信感の発露と解釈して訳してみた。また過ちを修正する機会があれば、直して行きたい。 写真はローマの「スペイン階段」。映画「ローマの休日」で有名だが、キーツは右側の家に住んでいた。 Where's The Poet? This poem is interesting, because it is about poet. If I understand well, in this poem, "The Poet" means "The 'true' Poet"?

He was fiercely criticized poet. Feeling death approaching death, he counter-attacked the critics of his days, who were mediocre to his eye.

By the way, please look at the house near the Spanish Steps, where Keats spent his last days. The step is renowned by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in <Roman Holiday>.

I would like to visit this house. In this hous, we can feel Keats's soul, I think. Have you ever visited it? And I know Spanish Steps that I watched in the movie in <Roman Holiday>. I like this movie. I would like to go to Italy to see many beautiful historic scenes.

I think that we have to know Italy which influenced much european culture including French culture. One friend of mine has traveled in Italy. She cannot speak Italian. According to her, in Italy, many Italians understand French more than English.

Italy is comfortable not only for Francophone people, but also Spanophone. My friend's wife, Spanish majored, could not speak Italian, but communicate with an innkeeper in a rural town. You should visit Italy, including the eternal city. Florence and Venice will be enticing.
Germany was a bit disappointed. She suffered destruction twice. Devastating 30 years war and World War II. She cannot rival Italy and France as far as antique legacy.

In my memory, a Quebec girl talked with a Hispanic man on tour near Niagara Falls. She spoke "las cataratas del Ni??gara". A fluent French-speaker, you can enjoy delightful tour anywhere Romance-language is spoken.

労働者階級出身のキーツの人生は差別との戦いでしたね。彼はその「母」と弟を結核で亡くしていますが、その頃の治療法は「転地療養」です。イタリアは産業革命が遅れ、大気が汚染されず、乾燥した温かい気候が良いとされていました。多少ともお金があれば、母や弟を病院で隔離して見捨てることにより、他の家族を守る方法しかありませんでした。

昨日、『あん』という映画の話をきいたばかりで・・・。
私は、本を読もうかと・・・。
この話も差別をテーマにした実話をもとにした小説らしいです。
