Die alte Brunnen
(die dreite Stanze)

Und du erwachst, ― dann mußt du nicht erschrecken!
Die Sterne stehn vollzählig überm Land,
Und nur ein Wandrer trat ans Marmorbecken,
Der schöpft vom Brunnen mit der hohlen Hand.

君は目を覚ます　―　でも驚くことはない！
星は地を覆っている。
旅人が大理石の水鉢に近づき、
手で水を汲むのだ。

With twinkling stars the heaven is veiled over.
Against the marble basin he stands
And scoops water with his own hands.

君は目を覚ます − でも驚くことはない
空はきらめく星で覆われている。
大理石の水盤に男は立って
手で水をすくっているのだ。

La vieille fontaine
(le troisième strophe)

Et tu t'éveilles, ― Mais, ne sois jamais surpris!
Le ciel est couvert des étoile de proche en proche
De le vasque de marbre, le vagabond s’approche
Où il boire l’eau avec la main creux très épris.

手をくぼませて嬉しそうに水を飲む。
