Tour de la grue jaune

Mon ami part du tour fameux
En bateau par temps chaud et brumeux
Son voile enflé vite sépare l'eau.
Que à l'horizon perd le flot!

Li Po

黄鶴楼

私の友は暖かく曇った日に
有名な塔を船で後にした。
膨れた帆は急いで水を分ける
ああ流れは水平線に消える。

I would like to buy French books on Korean classic poems "Sijo", but I coudn't, because Sijo is not known in France, Europe. C'est dommage! In Japan, there is Haiku, In Korea, there is Sijo. When I was a middle and high school student, I liked mmorizing Sijo. Today many South Koreans are not interested in Sijo incosidering Sijo "old-fashioned poems', but I consider Sijo as Korean spirit and beautiful Korean classic culture. In Sijo, there are Sijo written in 漢字 and Sijo written in Hangul.

For my French or Francophone friends, who are interested in Korean traditional culture, I would like to present Sijo in French and Korean traditional art(especially painting). :)

Translatinn of poems into other language is a very very good and execllent pasttime. I admire your ability to translate poems. In South Korea, many aged and retired people don't know how they have to spend their time. I think that being aged is a new life. In general in youth, people cannot have much pasttime, because they are very busy. So being aged and retired, they can sent pasttime in doing what they like. There are many thins to do, if helth is good, I think. :)

Thank you! I have no idea of 時調. Where? When? Would you have a plan to present some abridged version in your blog?

On TV in Seoul, I watched a good programme on Japanese aged people's life. Many Japanese aged people sent their time in learning other language, reading, traveling, doing sports, doing bonsai, etc. This programme sent a very important message of life to many aged South Korean people who don't know how to spend precious time. The programme was alos impressive for me who am still young. When I am aged, I would like to live as like Japanese aged people. :)

Yes, Translatinn of copyright-free poems into other language is one of the cheapest pastimes.

Would you mind introducing English version of 時調?

Oh yes, I have plan to present Sijo in my blog. It is difficult, but I will try to present the message of Sijo in French. And in English, too if you want. Even if my English is not good. I will try. :)

In Japan, we have many aged people who were active and now don't know how to spend their time. They are dubbed "Industrial Waste"産業廃棄物. Did you see Japanese-produced program? That means that Japan has a big problem. Without any problem, TV station never broadcast a program starred by wrinkled men with white and bold head.

I will disclose my secret how to rhyme the above poem. Grade B poets are said to be too conscious of RHYME. I am no exception.

At first, I have in mind :

la rivière: l'eau: le flot

It took long to notice l'eau rhymed with le flot.

Is it right?

Then, le flot and l'eau were assigned to the last words. Among French word elements, -eau may have its coupling words; agneau, gâteau,

Input eau and set 3

You will be overwelmed by a long list.

Eau /eaux is a must for amateur poets. one-syllable and vowell only. Eau /eaux have its couple easily.

When you try a French rhyme, I recommend water-related story.

Not so with gateau.

bateau, bonneteau, boqueteau, chanteau, chapiteau, château, coteau, couteau, écriteau, éléphanteau, gâteau, linteau, listeau, liteau, loqueteau, louveteau, manteau, marmenteau, marteau, pointeau, porte-couteau, portemanteau, poteau, râteau, serpenteau, têteau, tourteau, tréteau

In the strict rhyming rule, agneau is not acceptble for gateau.

Both shares -eau. But -neau in agneau and -teau in gateau are different. Roughly last consonat and last vowel must be identically pronounced.

And <brumeux> occurred to me. I searched -meux ending words in Dictionnaire rimant français. I had trouble finding lerevant word. <fameux> is too common. Then I had no choice.

English syllables end with vowel + consonat. That is a great problem. Last vowels are vocal unlike French.

One of English favorite word TREE.
One-syllable ending EE.

------ to the SEA
------ under the TREE
------ drinking TEA
------ with ME

You can compose a romantic quatrain soon.

Thank you very much for your comment. In reading your comment, I am surprised at your excellent knowledge on French and English syllables. Your information is very useful when I translate Sijo into French. I bought a South Korean book on Sijo in order to try to translate into French some good Sijo on nature including water-related story. :)
It will be a little difficult, but I will try. Thank you very much!
