蛆虫が天国から ―― ウォリス・スティーブンス

作者がスティーブンス、別段驚くことはない。美女の肉を賞味するのは蛆虫に与えられた特権である。蛆虫どもは「アラディンの魔法のランプ」に出てくるバドル・アル・ブズル姫を腹に収める。

それよりも今朝の思いがけぬ収穫は Virginia Frances Sterrett というアメリカの女性の挿絵。北京オペラの舞台で、バドル・アル・ブズル姫が「ああ、アラディン、アラディン、どうしてあなたはアラディンなの？」とつぶやいている。

The Worms at Heaven's Gate

Out of the tomb, we bring Badroulbadour,

Good evening! You work hard. That is good. Are you interested in this painting? So am I. Miss Virginia Frances Sterrett is an American illustrator. She died of tuberculosis as young as 31 years-old. At that time tuberculosis is fatal. She left Arabian Night series one piece of which you can see above.
