仏訳「夜と馴染みに」 − フロスト

フロストの三韻句法による１４行詩の「「夜に馴染んで」の仏訳に挑戦することにした。似ているとは言っても、英語は英語であり、フランス語はフランス語である。私の電子辞書でフランス語にコード化しただけではどうにもならない。一日考えて末に、かろうじてフランス語もどきの「訳詩」のでっち上げに成功した。文法的に正しいかどうか、正しいとしても意味が通じるかどうか。

三韻句法による１４行詩の構造は一般に [a,b,a], [b,c,b], [c,d,c], [d,e,d],[e,e] と表記される。通常５種類の韻で行を終わらせる。だがフロストは最後に最初の行をレフレインしているので [a,b,a], [b,c,b], [c,d,c], [d,a,d],[a,a] となっている。つまり４種類の韻を行末に持ってこなければいけない。フロストの場合は次の４語である。
night, light, height, right, night　

しかも訳詩であるからには最重要の the night は尊重する。結果 la nuit を最初の行の末尾に持ってこなくてはならない。原詩はすべて英語での完璧な韻を踏んでいるが、私の仏訳はフランス詩の完全韻ではない。それでも韻の成績評価で「良」はクリアしているつもりである。

Acquainted with the night

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

僕は一人夜に馴染んでいた。
雨に出かけ、戻るときも雨。
歩いて街の灯もはるか遠く。

僕は侘しい路を見下ろした。
伏目で夜警をやり過ごした。
話をするのも億劫だった。

僕は止まり、じっとすると
一本向こうの道路の家から
途切れた叫び声が聞こえた。

僕を呼び止めるのではない。
そして地上より遥かに高く
空に映えて輝く時計は黙し

時刻が正確か否かは語らぬ。
僕は一人夜に馴染んでいた。

Familiarisée avec la nuit.

Je me suis familiarisée avec la nuit.
J'ai passé au-dehors de la lumière.
Dans la pluie sorti − rentrée dans la pluie.

J'ai regardé le chemin en arrière.
J'ai passé à côté du vieux gardien,
Juste devant que j'ai baissée mes paupière.

J'ai resté debout et ne fait des bruits rien
Quand une voix interrompu est venu
Du chemin prochain, que j'ai entendu bien,

Mais ni pour m'appeler ni pour faire salut.
Et plus loin au ciel, la horloge a luit.
Je l'ai regardé et n'ai parti plus.

Tôt ou tard ? Elle me n'a pas instruit.
Je me suis familiarisée avec la nuit.

仏訳大意

夜と馴染みに

僕は夜と馴染みになった。
僕は光の外に出ていた。
雨で出かけ ― 戻ると雨。

僕は路を振り返った。
僕は老警官の前を
瞳を落とし通った。

音を立てぬよう立っていた。
隣の路から途切れた声が
したが、良く聞こえた。

呼ぶのでも、挨拶でもない。
空遠くには時計が光っていた。
僕は見つめ、立ち去らなかった。

進んでいるか、遅れているか？語らぬ時計。
僕は夜と馴染みになった。
