彼女にも詩集の出版の意識はあったのだろうが、それを実現させる社会性と積極性に欠けていたのである。読まれもしない本の出版は意味がない。後半の条件文は彼女らしい。

今日のフロストの詩は「道をふさいだ倒木」である。樹が倒れたら人々の議論はどうなるか、興味があり、人々を妨害した。この木はフロスト自身であり、人々に議論を呼びかけている。

On A Tree Fallen Across The Road

The tree the tempest with a crash of wood
Throws down in front of us is not bar
Our passage to our journey's end for good,
But just to ask us who we think we are

Insisting always on our own way so.
She likes to halt us in our runner tracks,
And make us get down in a foot of snow
Debating what to do without an ax.

And yet she knows obstruction is in vain:
