ヘ短調作品３４

春 ＩＶ ヘルダーリン

ウェッブ検索するうちに、ヘルダーリンの「春」という詩が出てきた。無韻の爽やかな気分の詩であるが、かなり病状が悪化していたヘルダーリンはこの作品にScardanelli,1648年3月3日と署名したという。上の写真は長い晩年を送った通称ヘルダーリン塔。

Der Frühling V

Es kommt der neue Tag aus fernen Höhn herunter,
Der Morgen der erwacht ist aus den Dämmerungen,
Er lacht die Menschheit an, geschmückt und munter,
von Freuden ist die Menschheit sanft durchdrungen.

Ein neues Leben will der Zukunft sich enthüllen,
Mit Blüten scheint, dem Zeichen froher Tage,

In the death-chamber for a moment Death,
Shamed by the presence of that living Might,
Blushed to annihilation, and the breath
Revisited those lips, and Life's pale light

"Leave me not wild and drear and comfortless,
As silent lightning leaves the starless night!
Leave me not!" cried Urania: her distress
Roused Death: Death rose and smiled, and met her vain caress.

死者の部屋で「死」は一瞬
生ける「命」の在席に我が身を恥じ
赤面して小さくなる。そよ風が
唇に触れ、「命」の青白き光が
肢体を輝かすも、喜びは手遅れ
「悲惨で孤独な私を残さないでおくれ
稲妻が音を立てずに去るみたい！
行かないでおくれ！」とウラニアは叫ぶ。
彼女の嘆きで「死」は起き上がる。
「死」は笑み浮かべ彼女の虚しいキスを受ける。

「その侭じっとして！もう一度話しておくれ。
キスなりとも生きておれば、キスしておくれ。
今もなお生きている悲しい記憶をたどり
キス、この言葉こそ記憶に残る想い出なのに
