＊ 語学力の不足かもしれないが、エミリーの説明節約した代表例。

＊ 「金の苦痛、銀の苦痛」から、1848年から１８５５年のカリフォルニアのゴールド・ラッシュにふれた詩と考えた。彼女がこの詩を書いた時にはラッシュは終わっていたはずである。一攫千金の人もでたが、一攫千金を夢見た人を相手に商売した人は万金を得たようである。私には慣れない用語法があった。ほかの言葉がありそうなのは彼女が「頭韻」に拘っているせいだと解釈した。
