冬の樹 ―― ウィリアム・カルロス・ウィリアムス

アメリカの小児科医で詩人のウィリアム・カルロス・ウィリアムス(William Carlos Williams) の詩を読んでみたくなった。著作権の切れた彼の詩で Representative Poetry Online が選んだ詩に目を通してみた。今日はそのうち「冬の樹(Winter Trees)」である。

Winter Trees

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

念入りな
着衣と
脱衣は終了！
澄んだ月は
長い枝の中
静かに動き
確かな冬に
蕾を支度し
賢明な樹は
