オープニング

PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA: If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

Its the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

Its the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

Its the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

Its been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we cant, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people

Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

「Last Lecture」 より No.3

今日は、久しぶりに Last Lectureを読んだ。

今日は、「スタートレック」のカーク船長の話。

Randy教授は、私よりも少し上の年代だけれど、同じように、この番組に熱中した事がなんだか嬉しい（笑）

I learned so much by waching this guy（カーク船長）in action. He was the distilled essence of the dynamic manager, a guy who knew how to delegate, had the passion to inspire, and looked good in what he wore to work. He never professed to have skill greater than his subordnates. He acknowledged that they knew what they were doing in their domain. But he established the vision, the tone. He was in charge of morale.

私たちは、学校、会社、コミュニティーといった集団に属さないといけない。

どの集団をみても、ピラミッドのような構造になっている。それぞれの人には役割があり、役割を無視したり、役割を果たさない人がいれば、誰かがそれを補わなければいけないと思う。

上に立つ人がその役割を果たさなければ、その集団の働きはバラバラになり、ピラミッドの構造のように理路整然としたものにはならない。

つまり、集団の構造に見合った働きをしなくなる。

Randy教授の文章を見ると、確かに、カーク船長からリーダーシップを学ぶ事ができるように思う。

それぞれの役割を理解し尊重する。状況を判断し、ビジョンを示し、方向性を出す。

その集団の構造が整然としたピラミッドなら、前に進むのに、外部との抵抗も少なくなり、下層の人も守られるように思う。そして、下層の人は、その構造を支えるようになると思う。

リーダーシップとは、ピラミッド構造を保つもののように感じる。

そして、その基本は、Randy教授の言うように、モラルだと思う。なぜなら、それは「考え方」の基本であるからだ。

「考え方」にまとまりが無ければ、リーダーシップも方向性が無くなり、その集団の構造はピラミッドにはならないと思う。

カーク船長を見習わなければ。また、あの番組を見てみたい。

確実に金持ちになる ｢引き寄せの法則」より No.1

この前、日本食レストランにおき忘れ、お店のおばさんのおかげで手元に戻ったこの本、それも何かの縁だとおもって、素敵な言葉をご紹介します。

「命は、進歩して繁栄することを求めているのが自然です。

健康、知識、力、気品、美しさ．．．．人生を豊かにするあらゆるものを、誰もが手に入れるのが本来の姿です。」


そして、命については、こう書かれています。

「私たちの命には、｢肉体」、「知性」、「精神」を磨くという3つの目的があります」


この本を読むと、なんだか自分も豊かになれるんだって思えるようになります！

豊かさとは、命の進歩、つまり、肉体的にも、知性的にも、精神的にも向上していくことなんだと思います。

それを望んで、実践していけば、結果として、「物」的にも、「心」的にも満たされていくと、最初の章で述べられています。

「Last Lecture」 No.2

昨日、ａｂｃで Randy 教授の特集をやっていた。

本当に、温厚で、それでいて、芯の強さを感じさせる人だった。

自分の気持ちに素直で、前向きな姿が、余命幾ばくの無い人だということを感じさせなかった。

人は、こんなにも強くなれるのかと、深い感銘を受けた。

TVでも紹介された３語だけでのアドバイスは印象に残った。

If I could only give three words of advice, they would be "tell the truth." If I got three more words, I'd add "All the time". My parents taught me that "you're only as good as your word," and there's no better way to say it.

Honesty is not only morally right, it's also efficient. In a culture where everyone tells the truth, you can save a lot of time double-checkng.....

自分の気持ちに素直になる事や、正直になることは、時に難しい。

しかし、常に真実と信じる事に従うことは、モラルの問題だけではなく、私たちの共有している「時間」を貴重なものにする。

嘘や、偽りが、人の努力してきたものを台無しにすることもある。

映画「マトリックス」で、エージェントのスミスが、モフィアスに言う言葉ある。

人は増殖を続け、他の場所に移り住み、資源を使い果たそうとする。それは、地球上の他の生物とにている。それはヴァイルスだ。

これも真実だと思う。

しかし、人間とヴァイルスを分けるものがあるとしたら、真実を告げることが出来るかどうかではないかと思う。

もちろん、嘘や偽りは無くならないと思う。

だからといって、それを仕方ないとすれば、消費するだけの、何も生み出さない、荒涼とした未来が待っているように思う。
