You need to watch this moive with your RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK glasses on.
There are so many unreal and unbelievable stunts that you have to remember that it's just entertainment, not reality.
The movie stars Matthew McConaughy, Steve Zahn, and Penelope Cruz.
Penelope Cruz proves that she can't act and that dating Tom Cruise put her on the map.
Steve Zahn plays the role he alays plays - the wiseguy sidekick.
Matthew McConaughy is alright - neither good nor bad.
The story is about treasure hunters searching for a Civil War ship and how they get caught up with members of the World Health Organization in Africa.
They story is set mainly in Nigeria and Mali.
McConaughy and Zahn are the treasure hunters who are lured to Africa by fame and fortune; Cruz is a WHO doctor (like that's believable).
She stumbles upon a "plague" in Mali and sets out to find the source. It's here that she becomes acquainted with our heroes - the aforememntioned treasure hunters.
Since it's Africa, there has to be a corrupt regime and a corrupt European businessman, right? We have both
in this movie.
It's in the dealings with these corrupt individuals that the action scenes play out and the story unfolds.
I will say that the movie was mildly entertaining.
A couple of things came to mind as I was watching the movie:

1. Why in all Hollywood disaster movies (like THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) is there a dysfunctional family? Why does the child always have to be a genius? Do the husband and wife ALWAYS have to get back
together?

2. Why in all Hollywood movies is the doctor or lawyer always a beautiful woman? Does there have to be a
smartass in EVERY action movie? Does the guy always have to get the girl at the end of the movie?

I guess so.
