香港の新聞「アップルデイリー」の取材がありました

スタンレー大会へ向けての練習が本格化するなか、6月初旬に香港のとても有名な新聞「アップルデイリー」の取材がありました。

スタンレー大会に参加する合計300チームの中の外国人チームの代表として香港日本人倶楽部ドラゴンボート倶楽部が選ばれました！！！いっぱい写真撮影がありましたが、この写真が選ばれたようです。練習後で疲れているにも関わらずみんなイイ顔ですね！

良い思い出になりましたね！

西洋人のドラゴンボートはお祭りのようだといっても過言ではありません。
ドラゴンボートの大会が近づくにつれ、スタンレーで「２０１２年度スタンレードラゴンボート大会」に向けて練習する大勢の男女パドラーがやってきます。本年度は香港国内および海外から２５０チーム以上、総勢５０００人以上が参加。香港日本人倶楽部ドラゴンボート同好会も、背中に「龍」の文字が入った鮮やかな緑のユニフォームを着てこの大会に参加します。
日本人主婦のなおこさん、ちっちさんはスタンンレーの大会にそれぞれ２回、３回参加しているお二人。ドラマーのちっちさんは、身振り手振りで一生懸命ドラゴンボートについて語ってくれました。レース中は、相手チームとの競り合いで非常に緊張感があるそうです。なおこさんは、「ドラゴンボートは日本でもよく知られているけど、違う場所、違う時期に行われるので、お祭りって感じじゃなく、もっと競技っぽい。日本でもちまきはない」とのこと。

香港日本人倶楽部ドラゴンボート同好会はレースに対してかなり真剣で２月からトレーニングを開始。ベテランパドラーである加藤さんは今年で３回目、P助さんは４回目の参加となる。両人とも、チームメイトと喜びを分かち合えることがドラゴンボートの最大の魅力、と話してくれました。

"It wouldn't be wrong to say Western Dragonboat is like a Carnival. While its nearing the dragonboat festival, we can see many men and lady paddlers practicing at Stanley for the "2012 Stanley Dragonboat Championship". This year, there are over 250 teams, both local and from overseas, totaling more than 5000 participants. This year the Hong Kong Japanese Dragon Boat Club has also organized a team to participate and they will be wearing a bright green uniform with the word "dragon" printed on the back.

Two japanese wifes, Naoko san and Chicchi, have participated in the Stanley race two and three times respectively. When talking about dragonboat, drummer Chicchi appears to be very excited, demonstrating with her hand. During the race, it could get very tensed, one moment you may be in front of your opponent, the next moment you may be beaten! Naoko San says dragonboat is also well known in Japan but different places hold the races at different times. The Hong Kong Japanese Dragon Boat Club are very serious about the race and has started their training since February. Kato San and Psuke are experienced paddlers, paddling for the third and fourth year respectively.
