なお、今年(2012年)の中秋の名月は、9月30日(日曜日)です。
台風が接近しているので、見れないかもですね。
「竹取物語」はじめ古くから小説に登場し、和歌に詠まれてきた月。明治初期までは暦にも使っていました。
The moon has appeared in the ancient tales like Taketori Monogatari
(The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter) and also has been the subject of the Waka poem. It has been used for the calendar, ie. the lunar calendar, until early Meiji period. 今月12日は中秋の名月でしたが、月を立ち止まって眺めるような、ゆとりを我々は失っていないでしょうか？
12 September 2011 had "Chushu no Meigetsu" or, harvest moon,
which is the full moon nearest to the autumnal equinox. Haven't we possibly lost the peace of mind with which we stop to view and enjoy the moon? 月は、地球から約38万ｋｍのところにありますが、一年間に3.5cmずつ地球から遠ざかっています。潮の満ち引きなど地球は、月の引力の影響を大きく受けていますが、中でも地球の地軸の安定は月のおかげです。
The moon is located about 380,000 km away from the earth, but is
receding from earth by 3.5 cm per year. The earth is under significant influence of gravity of the moon. The ebb and flow of the tide is a good example. Also, the earth's axis has been stabilized thanks to the moon gravity. 地球は公転面に対して、約23.5度地軸を傾けていますが、月の引力がなければ、これほど地軸が安定しないのです。
The earth is tilted against the earth's axis by 23.5 degrees. The axis
cannot be stable without the moon gravity. 火星は地球と同じ時期に誕生し、構成している物質もほぼ同じです。ところが、火星は、月に相当するような大きな衛星がないため、地軸は60度近く揺らいでいて、厳しい気候条件になっています。
Mars was born at the same time as the earth and consists of similar
substances. However, Mars lacking the big satellite as the moon is tilted by 60 degrees, and so its climate condition is very severe. 地球は、過去に地軸が２度揺らいで氷河期を経験しましたが、月が今より10％離れてしまうと、火星のように地軸の揺れが激しくなってしまいます。極地の氷が溶け、熱帯雨林が氷河になり、気候も日の出・日の入りも全く予測不能な状態になります。
The earth encountered the glacial period twice in the past when the
earth's axis was fluctuated. If the moon is more distant by 10% than current position, the earth7s axis is supposed to more fluctuate like Mars. It is expected that the ices in the Antarctic/Arctic would melt down, the rain forests would become glacier or the climate becomes totally unpredictable so does times of sunrise/sunset. ありがたく、いとおしい存在。地球と月、いつまでも身を寄せ合っていて欲しいものです。
The moon is so precious and adorable. We do hope that the earth

コラム他 翻訳
昨夜の雲間の月も綺麗でした。そろそろ十五夜だなと、眺めてましたよ♪
昔の人のように、自然事象に寄り添って生きて行くのが、人間本来の姿なのでしょうね。
これからの文明の発展は、そうありたいですね。

アジアの中では、月餅を食べたり、家族団欒で食事をしたり（バーベキューをする所も・・）、しっかり「中秋節」を祝う所もあるのですよね。今年の東京は、ちょうど台風縦断で月を見る事は出来なさそうです・・残念！

クラクラさん、こんばんは<m(__)m>先週、金星の太陽面横断の記事について勉強したばかりだったので、地軸の傾きなど習いましたが、これを英語にできるのはすごい!!と思いました。天文学的なことに加え、日本情緒漂う中秋の名月についての英文は、以前勉強した岡倉天心の英語を彷彿とさせられました。素晴らしいです＼(^o^)／

↓下の記事の娘さんのグラスの絵は本当にガラス細工感が出ていますね＼(^o^)／グラスの模様が１つ１つ違うのを透明感を損なわずに細かく描いていてすごいです♪

いやいや、実は、ぶれと傾きの訳がいまいちなんですよね。
というか、和文読んだだけではわからない。今再度勉強中なんで直すかもです。
字面を訳しても通じない例と思って肝に銘じます。
でも、色々な話題を英語にするのは楽しいです。
