摂食障害は世界中に広がっている

 

摂食障害は、大学年齢の白人に限って見られる病気と考えられてきました。

 

しかし、こうした言説は、現在も、そして、過去も、真実ではありません。

 

It used to be thought that Eating Disorders were only found in college-aged white women. It is finally coming to light that this statement is just not, nor never was, true.

かつて、摂食障害に苦しむ人々は白人の、中流から上流階級の米国女性に限られると広く信じられてきました。

 

It was once a widely held belief that the only people who suffered from Eating Disorders were white, middle to upper class, American women.

 

 

しかしながら、黒人、ヒスパニック、アジア、そして、先住アメリカ人で摂食障害をわずらい、その体験を告白する女性たちは増え続けています。

 

However、an increase in the growing number of Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native American sufferers who are coming forward to say that they indeed are afflicted with an Eating Disorder.

有色人種の女性たちが摂食障害を発症する心理的（精神的）なさまざまな理由は、事実上、白人と同じです。

 

それらは、家族の問題、アルコールのようなネガティブな対処メカニズムを抱えた両親、虐待体験、（および／または）関係性の問題、加えて、ストレス、苦悩、怒りの対処法に関する必要性、そして、低い自己肯定感といった問題です。

 

それに加えて、黒人や、アジア人、ヒスパニック、アメリカ先住民の女性たちは、（人種）差別の様々な問題にも直面しており、このことが、低い自己価値感、愛され、認められたいという願望に寄与している可能性があります。

 

The psychological reasons that women of color develop Eating Disorders are virtually the same.

Family problems, parents with negative coping mechanisms like alcohol, 　history of abuse, and/or relationship issues, plus a need to cope with stress, pain and anger, and a low self-esteem.

 

In addition, Black, Asian, Hispanic and Native American women also face issues of discrimination that may contribute to their low self-worth and desire to be loved and accepted.

新法王は雨の中を何時間も待っていた人々に、「こんばんは」と呼び掛けた。

「自分はあなた方のために祈る、そしてあなた方も自分のために祈ってほしい」と語った。
前法王が無味乾燥な学者肌だっただけに、新法王の温かい言葉は人々の心を捉え、そのカリスマ性を感じさせた。


新法王が引き継ぐのはスキャンダルまみれの組織だ。

欧米諸国では、カトリック神父による子供への性的虐待が次々と明るみになっている。
失墜した教会への信頼を取り戻さなければならない。

指摘されている法王庁の不正会計問題や、マネーロンダリング（資金洗浄）の疑惑にも対処する必要がある。
　中南米諸国が新法王にかける期待は大きい。

彼は、貧困から抜け出し希望をつかみつつある、さらには世界での影響力を高めようとしている中南米地域の代表となる存在だからだ。
