生長の家とは何だったのか？

聖経甘露の法雨を日英両語で読む 神（２）

神が一切のものを造りたまうや
God, in creating all things,
粘土を用い給わず、
Uses no clay,
木材を用い給わず、
No wood,
槌を用い給わず、
No hammer,
鑿を用い給わず、
And no chisel;
如何なる道具も材料も用い給わず、
He uses neither tools nor material whatsoever;
ただ『心』をもって造りたまう。
He creates solely with His Mind.
『心』はすべての造り主、
His Mind is the Creator of all things,
『心』は宇宙に満つる実質、
His Mind is the Substance that fills the universe,
『心』こそ『全能』の神にして偏在したまう。
His Mind is indeed Almighty God, the Omnipresent.

この全能なる神、
完全なる神の
When the Mind of this Almighty God, and perfect God,
『心』動き出てコトバとなれば
moves and becomes the Word,
一切の現象展開して万物成る。
All things of the True-Image World unfold and come into being.
万物はこれ神の心、
All things are the Idea of God,
万物はこれ神のコトバ、
All things are the Word of God,
すべてはこれ霊、
Everythig is Spirit,
すべてはこれ心
Everything is the Divine Mind,
物質にて成るもの一つもなし。
Nothing exists that made of matter.
物質はただ心の影、
Matter is merely a shadow of the mind.
影を見て実在と見るものはこれ迷。
To see the shadow and regard it as Reality is delusion.
汝ら心して迷いに捉わるること勿れ。
Do not be swayed by delusion.

汝ら『実在』は永遠にして滅ぶることなし。
Reality is eternal and can never be destroyed.
『迷』は須臾にして忽ち破摧す。
Delusion is momentary and will vaish at once.
『実在』は自在にして苦悩なし
Reality is freedom and without suffering.
『迷』は捉われの相にして苦患多し。
Delusion is a state of bondage filled with suffering.
『実在』は真理、
Reality is Truth.
『迷』は仮相、
Delusion is falsehood.
実在は五官を超越し
Reality transcends the five senses,
第六感さえも超越して
Is even beyond the sixth sense
人々の感覚に映ずることなし。
And can never be perceived by the senses of men.



【コメント】
この箇所はいかにして現象世界が現れてくるのか、天地が創造されるのかということが歌われています。
注意しなければならないのは、ここで述べられている「心」は、人間の心ではなく、神の心だということです。
ですから、神の心で創られた現象世界は完全な世界であり、生長の家でいう「実相世界」のことなんですね。
この「実相世界」ーーここでは「実在」という言葉が使われていますがーーのことを、英語ではrealityという言葉が使われています。このrealityという言葉は非常に重要な概念を表しています。
さらに気をつけなればならないのは、

この全能なる神、
完全なる神の
When the Mind of this Almighty God, and perfect God,
『心』動き出てコトバとなれば
moves and becomes the Word,
一切の現象展開して万物成る。
All things of the True-Image World unfold and come into being

とありますが、ここで展開されている現象世界は、神の心が展開した世界ですから、完全円満であり、谷口先生は「新講甘露の法雨解釈」の中で、「真象」という言葉を使って解説されています。英語では「the True-Image World」と分かりやすく訳されています。 いまわれわれが住んでいるこの現象世界は、いろいろな人間の迷い「delusion」が反映されているから欠点の多い世界となっている。それで、谷口先生はこの現実の現象世界のことを「偽象」ということばを使っておられます。
現象世界という言葉を使っても、この言葉には、「真象」と「偽象」の二つがあるということなんですね。

聖経甘露の法雨を日英両語で読む 神（１）

生長の家の教えのすべては、この甘露の法雨の中に書かれている、と言われています。
信徒が毎日読む聖経であります。
甘露の法雨を読んでいる人で、英語に関心を持つ人、英語を勉強している人は、このさい、甘露の法雨の英語版も読みながら、暗記してしまいましょう。
英語も非常に格調高くて、勿論、内容も素晴らしいのですが、こういう英文こそ、暗記し甲斐のある文章だと思います。

或る日天使（てんのつかい）生長の家に来たりて歌い給うー
One day the Angel came to Seicho-No-Ie and sang:

創造の神は
God the Creator
五感を超越している、
Is beyond the five senses,
六感も超越している、
Even beyond the sixth sense,
聖
Holy,
至上
Supreme,
無限
Infinite,
宇宙を貫く心
Mind that penetrates the universe,
宇宙を貫く生命
Life that permeates the universe,
宇宙を貫く法則
Law that governs the universe,
真理
Truth,
光明
Light,
知恵
Wisdom,
絶対の愛。
Absolute love--
これらは大生命ー
These are the very nature of the Grand Life--
絶対の神の真性にして
The Divine attributes of God, the Absolute.
神があらわるれば乃ち
When God appears
善となり、
There is goodness,
義となり、
There is justice,
慈悲となり、
There is benevolence;
調和おのずから備わり、
Harmony comes of itself,
一切の生物処を得て争うものなく、
All living things find their proper place
And there will be no strife,
相食むものなく、
No preying upon one another,
病むものなく、
No sickness,
苦しむものなく、
No torment
乏しきものなし。
And none will be in need.
神こそ渾ての揮て、
God indeed is All of everythings:
神は渾てにましまして絶対なるが故に、
God is absolute and dwells in all things,
神の外にあるものなし。
Nothing exists beyond Him.
神は実在のすべてを蔽う。
God embraces the whole of Reality.
存在するものにして
神によって造られざるものなし。
All that exists is solely His creation.

宇宙を貫くという箇所が、それぞれどのような英語が使われているのか、この英訳はさすがだと思います。じっくりと味わいたい英語ですね。
permeate　という英語は、spread throughout(something)と英語辞典で説明されています。
