Joe

Facebook

Glenda and Shawn

A Email from Glenda

Hello Takao,

Thank you so much for the email. I am glad to hear everyone is well and still enjoying the wonderful festivals. Your camera takes very clear pictures. Thank you for sharing them with me. We are all well here. Our big Thanksgiving holiday has past and now everyone is getting ready for Halloween. Halloween is a night when the children dress up in costumes, usually scary ones, and go from door to door saying "Trick or Treat" and they receive candy. It comes from an old holiday where people put out food on their doorsteps to appease the ghosts or spirits of those relatives who have died and were thought to come back to visit their families on October 31st. But now it is a fun night for children. We carve pumpkins ( Jack O'Lanterns ) into funny faces and put candles in them so they glow. Then after Halloween we start to get ready for Christmas. Shawn is going to put our Christmas lights out on the house soon. If we wait much longer he will be trying to do it in the cold and snow. I am still hoping Joe is coming home for Christmas but he says it will depend on if his visa comes in time. I hope so. We miss him all year but we really miss him at Christmas time.

I went to see my favorite singer in concert last night. Barbra Streisand. She has never done a concert in Canada before. We drove to Toronto to see her. I was great. I enjoyed it very much. All the money from the concert is for charity. So that makes me happy too. The tickets were very expensive but it was well worth it for me. We had a lovely dinner at a very nice restaurant near the Air Canada Centre then walked to the concert. Security was very strict and we couldn't bring in our cameras. I had a wonderful evening. It took a long time to get home because of the traffic. We didn't get back to London until two o'clock in the morning. Needless to say I was tired today.

I still speak of my trip to Japan often. I am trying to learn to speak Japaneese with a computer program I found on the internet. So far I am learning the days of the week and the months of the year. I seems to be a very good program but very basic. Your language is very difficult. Joe must be very smart to have learned to speak it so well.

I am off work for the next couple of days. I am trying to sort though a lot of "stuff" that has accumulated over the years. We are renovating the basement apartment so we can take in English as Secound Language Students. Hopefully they will be from Japan. But maybe from China. We have an apartment downstairs where they can stay. Maybe I will get to practice my Japaneese too.

Well I should go. Thanks again for the letter. Say hi to everyone for me. I think of all of you often. Hopefully one day I will get to reciprocate the hospitality you shared with me.

Take Care of yourself.

Glenda

It's a fine day. How are you doing?

I went to a new pets' hospital to buy some filarial medicines in the morning.
In the afternoon I got home and I checked e-mail at MSN.
I got an e-mail form Glenda and I was glad to read that.
She had a good time in Japan and she spoke about Japan to her family
and friends so often of her time.
She showed them all of the pictures and videos of her trip.
Her daughters were interested in wearing Kimono.
Her friends want to plan a trip to Japan in two years time. Wow.

She asked me how the English lessons were going
and my wife Junko how the new school term was going
and my mother and my daughter and so on.

We had joyful words from Glenda. I'll show you.

Take care everyone. Write back when you have the chance.
I would like to hear from "all" of you. Thanks so much again for everything.
Please remember that I would love to have you come to visit me
and my family here in London at any time.
My house is your house.

"My house is your house" is a very delightful word.

It's cool in the morning. How are you doing?

Glenda is going to London in Canada in the afternoon.
We are sad but we have had a lot of talking, sightseeing and eating.
We had a lot of good experiences in this summer.
Glenda said please come to my house in winter
because Christmas is the best to visit.
It is difficult to go there for me because I have an artificial joint in my knee
but maybe my wife goes there to see Glenda again.
We are looking forward to seeing her again and she comes to Japan.
We had a good time. Thanks Glenda.
