ホシムクドリ（European Starling）

２月６日、裏庭のバードバスに来たときに撮ったものですが、ずっとアップするのを忘れておりました。

 

 

 

 

ホシムクドリ （星椋鳥、学名：Sturnus vulgaris ） は、スズメ目ムクドリ科に分類される鳥類の一種である。名前の由来は、暗い体色に星状の斑点がちりばめられていることより。

ヨーロッパ東部、スカンジナビア半島、ロシア西部からバイカル湖周辺までの広い地域で繁殖し、冬季は中央アジアやイラン、アラビア半島、アフリカの地中海沿岸の地域に渡り越冬する。北アメリカの広い範囲やハワイ、オーストラリア、ニュージーランド、南アフリカ共和国等には、他の地域から持ち込まれた個体が外来種として生息する。

日本では数少ない冬鳥として渡来するが、西南日本での記録が多い。ほとんどが単独の渡来だが、島根県や鹿児島県では、毎年少数の群れが越冬している。

姿形は別にして、名前のとおり本当に綺麗な声で歌います。

ハシボソキツツキ（Northern Flicker）

ハシボソキツツキ（Northern Flicker）は北米全域に見られるキツツキです。キツツキは普通は木の幹に穴を開けて中の昆虫を食べますが、土の上でも餌を探すのはこの種だけです。食物はアリ、昆虫、果実、種など。

 

体長は約３０ｃｍと鳩とほぼ同じ大きさで、キツツキとしては大型です。その鋭く長い嘴で民家の煙突の蓋を「カタカタ・・・・」と高速でつつきます。

 

上は♂で、朝の散歩中に撮った写真ですが、以前、　♀が裏庭に来た　こともあります。

The Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) is a medium-sized member of the woodpecker family. It is native to most of North America, parts of Central America, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and is one of the few woodpecker species that migrate. There are over 100 common names for the Northern Flicker. Among them are: Yellowhammer, clape, gaffer woodpecker, harry-wicket, heigh-ho, wake-up, walk-up, wick-up, yarrup, and gawker bird. Many of these names are attempts at imitating some of its calls.

ムネアカシルスイキツツキ（Red-Breasted Sapsucker）。和名は英語の（胸が赤い、樹液を吸う）を直訳したもののようです。白樺の木等の幹に穴を掘って樹液を吸ったり昆虫を食べます。

The Red-breasted Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus ruber), is a medium-sized woodpecker of the forests of the west coast of North America.Adults have a red head and upper chest; they have a white lower belly and rump. They are black on the back and wings with bars; they have a large white wing patch. Red-Breasted Sapsuckers nest in tree cavities. Northern birds migrate to the southern parts of the range; birds on the coast are often permanent residents. Like other sapsuckers, these birds drill holes in trees and eat the sap as well as insects attracted to it. They sometimes catch insects in flight; they also eat seeds and berries. These birds interbreed with the Red-naped Sapsucker or Yellow-bellied Sapsucker where their ranges overlap.

 

カナダガン（Canada Goose）

近くの池でよく見るカナダガンのつがいです。

 

 

 

 

朝、夕、V字やW字形に編隊を組んで移動するカナダガンの群れが良く見られます。

 

 

カナダガン （加奈陀雁、学名:Branta canadensis）は、北アメリカのカナダとアメリカ合衆国北部に生息する黒や茶色の頭と茶色の羽を持つガン。まれに日本に渡来する。シジュウカラガン、カナダガモともいう。
北米では現在ではありふれた鳥である。民家近くの水辺でも、群れで草を食べているのをよく見かける。
かつては北米の繁殖地へのキツネの人為的増殖により壊滅的打撃をうけ、個体数が激減した。その後、人工繁殖等やキツネ駆逐等の継続的な種の保存努力により、今日の羽数が回復した。絶滅危惧種の人為的回復の事例のひとつとされる。
