Recently I spoke with a friend who said she would be willing to compromise all the truths of the breaking of bread every Lord's day and head covering, etc, for just a little bit of encouragement and upbuilding elsewhere. Wow! What would drive someone to say or consider such a thing? Something must be lacking, and we can’t just cop out and say all the fault lies with the one who leaves. And yet the popular consensus is that whoever thinks of leaving or leaves is entirely at fault and being disobedient. Ok, so they have left the assembly and are now going somewhere that doesn’t uphold all the truths of Scripture, but I am telling you, people do not leave assemblies because of doctrinal reasons. Most who leave hope they can find a place that practices the same things. The reason most people leave is due to discouragement in their faith and a lack of care.
