Sのところからの通勤はバスに乗って４２丁目と８番街の
Port Authority Bus Terminalに行き、そこから歩きです。

When I go to work from S's place, I take a bus to Port Authority at W 42nd and 8th, then walk.

(暫く前は柄が悪く、薄汚かったPAも、最近では割と普通の駅の雰囲気ですが、
まだまだ改善の余地大有りです。)

Port Authority used to be unsafe and dirty, but in the recent years became more of a normal depot.
Having said that, there's still a lot of room for improvement.

ところで、歩きのルートはタイムススクエアを含みます。
で、２，３日前ふっと上を見上げると、

昔は劇場で働く俳優、女優さんたちのための靴屋さんだった様子です。
スローガンの下には演劇上有名な登場人物たちの姿が刻まれています。

In the years gone by, this building appears to have been a shoe store for the actors and actresses.
There are bas relief of famous characters from classical plays under the slogan.

今は一回には安いファミレスが入り、当時の面影はありません。。

Nowadays, the ground floor is TGI Fridays, overriding any fond old memories of those days...
