UTD are desperate for a bit of players with creativity (kagawa)

The game was crying out loud for a creative midfielder,
someone like Kagawa and he's sitting on the bench laying
eggs.
This was the season when Kagawa is suppose to own our
midfield, two seasons ago he was Bundesliga player of the
year, playing in a team that would rip apart United in their
current form, Kagawa should be questioning Moyes and asking
about his place in the first XI,

It's a travesty that Kagawa and Mata had to sit through that
utter shite.
Two immensely gifted and talented players made watch the
shit served up tonight.

A team that benches a player like Kagawa simply doesn't
deserve to win the premier league. Why bring on the 39-year-
old Ryan Giggs when you have Shinji Kagawa?
Might I add that Kagawa was Bundesliga player of the year
before turning into a bench warmer for Man Utd. He'd be a
great transfer target for Arsenal if you ask me.

Would Kagawa be the answer to Rooney¡Çs departure?
Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Francis Red Devil
I am a numbers guy and figures are there to say, what SAF and
all of us fans saw in the young samurai. Kagawa is world class
but his niche of play is just what it is. J KLOPP will tell you that
it is quite rare to have a CAM who is good is close quarters,
brilliant in assists and an eye for goal. Frankly i have not seen
any player like this yet.

Neutral99
If Rooney is a legend for United it¡Çs because of his abilities as a
striker, not as a playmaker in behind the striker. He is not on
Kagawa¡Çs level in terms of technical ability and creativity to open
opposition up.
Everyone keeps using fitness as an excuse for Kagawa¡Çs poor
season but I don¡Çt buy that, he was ¡Èonly¡É out for 2 months and
also toward the end of the season he wasn¡Çt being bundled off
the ball like he was at the start of the campaign. So suggestions
that isn¡Çt strong enough for the EPL aren¡Çt justified in my eyes
either, just look at Cazorla, Silva, etc.
I feel his lack of impact has been down to his team mates not
quite understanding his style of play. At the start of the season
you would see him demanding the ball with a few players around
him and his team mates choosing other options that lead to
nothing.
In the second half of the season he scored, assisted or
created chances in these types of tight positions numerous time.
One that springs to mind for me is assist for Rooney against
Southmpton, for me, that was a turning point in how his team
mates saw him.
Players like Carrick, Scholes and Rooney were
always seeking him out to play a pass to and I think the whole
team gradually understood how he plays his football to the point
where I don¡Çt quite think he will be perfect come the start of
next season but perhaps from after Christmas and beyond.
I think Moyes will like him but if Rooney stays I feel he, like Sir
Alex, will use Rooney behind the striker because of the player
Rooney was/is as a striker. Perhaps he will come to the
realisation that Rooney in CAM is slow, clumsy and wasteful
compared to Kagawa and change his tactics but if Rooney stays
it¡Çs going to be the same frustrating line up that scraped so
many wins last season whilst Kagawa will be stuck out on the
left wing.

John Robart
i believe kagawa has the potential to be one of united¡Çs best
players. but only if united play him in the right position. with
him being 24, the next 2-3 years will be critical in his
development. maybe united could play rooney as a second
striker? (or rotate him and kagawa but this way would allow
both players regular playing time) a 4132 formation: evra, vidic
ferdinand, rafael, carrick as CDM (allowing carrick to sweep
from side to side behind the attacking midfielders and play balls
to get the attack started)zaha, kagawa as CAM, valencia
(potentially thiago?) as RAM, rooney and rvp as dual strikers.
this way would allow more attacking from rafael and evra too.

Oh my god... What a spectacle. Kagawa ran the show, what a
performance.
I feel absolutely gutted for Japan, totally deserved all 3 points, not
only on the balance of play, not only on the style of football but in the
atmosphere of the stadium and winning over the neutral fans it was
electric.
Hitting the post on 3 occasions and the harshest penalty ever
seen.
Most unlucky team ever. What a game.

19.ZDe123 ¡¡20th June 2013 - 2:51
Ref had bad game. No way did Italy deserve to win that. And Japan
showed their true colours because in the first game they had to make
a halfway-round the world flight from Japan to Brazil (how many
hours?) bec
au
se of a WCQ game and were jetlagged. Kagawa can
cross I didn't know he could hit a long ball like Scholes! Can't wait to
see him try that playmaker role next year at United!

Wow, what a game of football, end to end stuff, some amazing
indiv
i
dual displays from Kagawa, Honda, and Nagamoto.
Such a shame Japan are going to go home early.

33.Patrick ¡¡20th June 2013 - 4:55
Italy were in no way the better team tonight, Japan severely
outplayed them. Although, they did show their professionalism by
still carving out the result. Hopefully the next world cup will be filled
with enthralling games like this one, and we can all just forget about
the mediocre display in South Africa.

52.geoffn54 ¡¡20th June 2013 - 8:12
Great game. Japan looked really good on the ball and suspect without
it. The Italians were outplayed for long periods but showed typical
resilience. And the refereeing was poor once again: this time
2 penalties given that weren't.
Puzzling why Kagawa can't get into the United team. Honda and him
were a different class. Maybe it's the Arshevin (world class for his
country) treatment at Arsenal.

54.DavidD ¡¡20th June 2013 - 8:21
I thought Japan were quite unlucky at times. Buffon could have been
off after half an hour, the penalty given against Japan can be argued
and then a goal disallowed.
But, an absolutely superb game of football and Japan could easily give
some of the top teams a scare next year.
Hopefully Kagawa plays plenty of games under Moyes. Brilliant player.

82.BaggiosPonytail 20th June 2013 - 9:46
Yeah that is it in a nutshell. Italy play poorly and win. We would have
been beaten.
Kagawa looked very sharp and linked up well with Honda. How he
missed that chance at the end i'll never know. Easier to score!

104.Steve ¡¡20th June 2013 - 10:39
Italy nicked the match. Japan were focused, brave skillful and unlucky.
Great match to watch.
Kagawa, Honda and all were excellent, quick
one and two touch football, incisive passing, they were up for it.
Italy hung on in and stole the points, as they may eventually admit.
Japan found honour in defeat.
Enjoying the Confederation cup this
time around. If Italy play that badly against Spain it
¡Çs over

I am soooo tired today, but that game was totally worth it! Japan
were absol

Both sides should take a bow! I salute you all.

@114 - Totally agree. Although Spain are a collection of fantastic
footballers, their slow build up play can be a bit tedious to watch.
Given the choice of watching Spain or the Japan that turned up last
night, it would be Japan every time. Italy couldn't get the ball off them
and were totally out-footballed. Super skill, fast incisive passing and
everyone able to play.
Kagawa was outstanding

This was probably the best game I've ever seen in my life! Thank you

First 30 minutes Italy were playing hoofball and Japan running around

One of the best games of football I have seen in a long time. England,
take note and see what can be achieved at playing with a higher
tempo and crisp pass and move football.

but that's what they've been: glimpses. I was really excited about him
coming, I knew what he brought and I've been begging for United to get a

and we can see his Dortmund form come into play.

You are being harsh on the guy. Competing with Rooney for a position is not easy
especially considering his injury.

I get where you are coming from but it is more about an unfortunate situation
rather than his own performance being bad. I would rate his individual
performance this season excellent, although the results he has achieved has
been very average.(Due to injuries and competing with Rooney for his position.)

Just look at everybody here saying they are not scared of Rooney leaving because
we have Kagawa. He got through his injury very well and he showed us he can
replace Rooney if he goes or when he is injured/moves position.

These were my PL expectations of Kagawa before the 12/13 season.

Expectations
¹áÀî¿¿»Ê¤Ø¤Î´üÂÔ
1. Start at least half the PL games(19).
2. Score/assist somewhere between 10 and 15 times.
3. Play at least 50% of the time behind the striker.
4. Stand out as one of our most entertaining and technical players.
5. Become integrated to such an extent that he's almost sure to
¡¡be a first XI regular when the 13/14 season starts.

Did he live up to my expectations?
¹áÀî¿¿»Ê¤Ï´üÂԤ˱þ¤¨¤¿¤«¡©

1. No, he only started 17 games.
2. Yes, he got 6 goals and 4 assists, barely pushing him over
¡¡the minimum demand of 10 goals/assists.
3. No, he only played around 1/3 of the time behind the striker.
4. Yes, most definitely. In my opinion, only RVP can challenge
¡¡Kagawa in this aspect.
5. Yes, I think he's considered a first XI regular by now.
¡¡He's not as "safe" as Carrick, RVP or DDG, but he's still a player
¡¡who's expected to start most games

Summary

Kagawa didn't live up to all my expectations, but his injury is largely
to blame for that. Had he not been injured, then I'm sure that he
would have started more than half the PL games. The injury also
slowed down his process of adjusting to the league, making his way
back into the team unnecessarily hard. At least 30% of the season
got ruined because of this injury, because Fergie had to ease
Kagawa into the squad again. At this point, he also had to play
on the wing, seeing as Rooney was back and well-established
behind the striker.

In short: the injury "ruined" Kagawa's season. If we take the injury
and him playing out of position into account, Kagawa actually
did better than expected. He did have a pretty good goals/assist
ratio. He did succeed at playing sexy football. He did establish
himself as our best passer of the ball(now that Scholes has retired).
He also had the best stamina scores since David Beckham.
These are all remarkable first-season achievements for a young
player who has struggled with injuries and has been played out of
position. Anyone who says otherwise have overly high expectations.

I'm looking forward to next season
