お久ぁー！最近、全然更新してないよー＞＜ 何せモリノのＰＣ壊れてから、このＰＣやと絵文字もWikiも使えへんから、 結構やる気なくなんねんてね・・・↓↓ ところで、今、アジア系アメリカ人学のクラスでサイトを立ち上げ中ねん。 あたしは記事班やねんけど、初めての記事を書き上げたんー♪ テーマはバージニア工科大学の射殺事件について。 色んな見方ができる事件やけど、１意見として読んでみてちょー！ Virginia Tech Massacre and Immigrants’ Problems You must know at least something about the incident that happened at Virginia Tech University on April 16. What do you think about it? Why do you think it happened? The gunman was a student who immigrated from South Korea when he was eight. He was considered as 1.5 generation: person who was born overseas, but came here in the US at the young age. When he was in predominant White middle school and high school, his classmates started teasing and picking on his shyness and broken English. They told him “Go back to China” and called him “Chink” even though he was not Chinese. His parents owned a dry cleaning business, which is one of the most common immigrant jobs. This kind of immigrant job is usually low-paid and of low-status, and most people who are able to speak English don’t want to get the jobs. That’s why those immigrants who have a language barrier commonly get the jobs even though they don’t want to. The news media reported that he targeted “rich kids.” Didn’t he envy the students who were born here and raised in the middle-class families? Didn’t he show how hard to be an isolated immigrant? This massacre can be seen as a result of the immigrants’ problems that this country has today. If he was born in the US, if he could have spoken English well, or if people around him could have understood him a little more, this incident might not have occurred. It’s time to support the Asian American community and also to think about immigrants’ problems more seriously. |

言語の違い、彼の周りにいた同級生・・多分色々な原因が他にもあったと思うんだけど、事件が起きてしまった後、彼が死亡してしまった今となっては真実は彼しか知らない・・・。やはり残された遺族そして彼の家族の事を思うと胸が痛い。
