STのthe death knellというフレーズを使って日記を

今回の週間ST(11/5号p.4)でこんな文がありました。

Sony announced Oct. 25 it has ceased production of the classic, cassette tape Walkman in Japan, effectively sounding the death knell of the once iconic, now obsolete device.

(ソニーは10/25に発表したところによると、日本でのウォークマンの製造を中止した。これはかつての象徴的な、でも今は廃れてしまった機器への別れを告げているような響きだ。)

という文がありました。

sounding the death knell of … 〜に別れを告げる

という意味なのですが、
(death knell・・・死を告げるための鐘)、
このフレーズで私が思い出したこと、
それは自分の今使われている机とイスが、来年の春、息子の小学校の就学に伴い、処分される見込みとなりました(>_<）。
私のとっては悲しいのですが仕方がないと思っています。

この心境を思い出し、机たちに敬意を示して、
今の心境を、
STの記事風に書いてみました。

Title: Maki bids adieu to the Desk

（マキ、机に別れ）

My desk and chair, that I have used since I started as a worker, will have died next spring. It will be more than ten years. I'm worrying almost every day that the furniture will be no more when my son goes to elementary school, sounding the death knell of part of my life. I stay here every morning when I get up early. Originally I bought them when I started living on my own and moved to a new apartment. They were used under the stewardship of (〜の管理下の元で) once the working woman, now Okasan (mother).
