作品制作者：寺岡政美。題名：修道院の最後の晩餐／アラベスクの御ちそう。The Cloisters Last S upper/Arabesque Spread, 2012 作品サイズ：10 x 10-1/2 x 1/4 フィイト 材料：油絵、金ぱく 個展題名： 修道院の最後の晩餐 画廊名：サムエル フリーマン 画廊 場所：ロスアンゼルス 会期年： ２０１２年 此の作品は特にカトリック教司祭の非道徳的性行為の歴史と現代のアメリカの社会で見る性と人間性とは何かを見極めて見ようとするシリーズの１作品です。１５世紀頃のルネッサンス的宗教絵画の様式を引用しながら象徴的かつ風俗画的要素を含めながら現代の文化，政治の問題を物語的な絵画として製作しています。やはりテーマがテーマですのでルネッサンスの宗教的絵画様式がぴつたりだと思つています。寺岡政美の初期の浮世絵木版画風な表現様式から１９９０年の始めには様式的には第一変しましたが内容的には初期も現在もかわりなく社会，文化，歴史，環境、人間性，個人の権利の平等に統一し焦点を合わせながら制作しています。 In The Cloisters Last Supper, the narrative takes up “after the sins have been revealed”. These new works deftly weave together exaggerated contemporary references―including priests secretly galavanting in thigh high stockings and pumps―with an arcane and sinister iconography, emphasizing Teraoka’s view of the Catholic Church at a critical crossroads, with any chances at true modernization most likely long-passed. With the ongoing saga of sex abuse scandals, coverups, and out-of-touch moral codes for behavior, in Teraoka’s view the overt contradiction between the liturgy of the Church and the intolerable actions of members of its clergy cries out for critical interrogation. Teraoka has been widely exhibited and reviewed internationally, with solo shows at institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. His work is owned by numerous public collections such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Tate Modern in London. He is represented by Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, and by Samuel Freeman in Los Angeles. - Samuel Freeman Gallery |
