ブライアン・ジョーンズ with Rolling Stones

2018年の最後に「Doom and Gloom」を考える（ちょい和訳）

今年も残すところあと十数時間。

振り返れば楽しかった思い出ばかりの1年でした(^^)/

さて。

2012年に発売されたストーンズのベストアルバム『GRRR！』を買ってないため、

その時リリースされた「Doom and Gloom」をちゃんと聴いてなかったんですが、

ストーンズがレコーディングをはじめたというので（不確かだがww）、

じっくりと聴いてみることにしました。


「Doom and Gloom」は2012年8月頃にレコーディングされ、

同年10月11日に発売されました（アルバム『GRRR！』の先行シングル）。

ある意味、ストーンズ50周年記念の一曲と言えるかと思います。

さて。

公演の時に聴いて、かっこいいなーって思ってはいたんですが、

よく歌詞を知らなかったため、あらためて読んでみましたが。。。

ずいぶん攻めた内容になっています（後述）。



ギターをはじめとして楽曲全体はシンプル。

ライブで確認できますが、イントロはミックのギターで入っていきます。

ストーンズならではの、ライブで盛り上がる系。

シンプルで音が少ないところから、一気に攻め込む感じはさすがです。

あ、ミュージックビデオもかなり過激な感じですww。



さて。

曲の内容ですが、50周年のわりに、ちょっとダークな内容。

オレは昨日夢を見た

オレは飛行機を操縦していて

乗客全員が酔っぱらって、気が狂っちゃうんだ

ゾンビの大群を撃ち殺した

けれどもオレは頭にきたんだ

What's it all about?
いったいどういうことなんだ

Guess it just reflects my mood
オレの気分を反映させたものかもしれない

ゴミの上に座っていると

Feeling kind of hurt
イヤな気分になる

When all I hear is doom and gloom
オレが聴くことができるのは絶望と破滅

And all is darkness in my room
そして全部がオレの部屋の暗闇

ストーンズの楽曲がバレエに使われるそうです!!

barksの記事で驚くべきものが配信されました。

「ミック・ジャガー、ザ・ローリング・ストーンズの曲でバレエ音楽を監修」


ロシアで開催されるバレエフェスティバルの中で、

ミックが監修するそうですが、

「You Can’t Always Get What You Want」

「Paint It Black」

「She’s A Rainbow」

などが使われる模様です。



そういえば、以前、フィギュアスケートでも、

村主章枝が「Paint It Black」でグランプリファイナル踊りました。

もちろん原曲ではなくで、オケ版にしています。

アナウンサーが「失恋の歌」と紹介しているのが、印象的ww

キース公式twitterで『ロックンロールサーカス』の映像が流れています!!

クリスマス気分も抜けない今日この頃（そもそもそんな気分、ないww）、

西村は今年最後の外回り（出張）の最中ですww



そんな中、キースの公式twitter見たら、

ロックンロールサーカスの映像をアップしているんで、びっくりしました(^^)/




「Salt of the Earth」の一部です。

キースってこの曲についてほとんど語っていないと思うんですが、

キース自身がボーカルを取っている曲なんですよね。

ちなみにブライアンはこの曲に関わっていません。

具体的なレコーディング日程は不明で、

1968年5月のブライアン逮捕後ではないと思われるんですが。。。



ちなみにロックンロールサーカスで、

キースの横に座るブライアンが生前最後の動画です(/_;)

ポール・マッカートニー「Who Cares」のミュージック・ビデオ公開

ポールが9月に発売したアルバム『Egypt Station』。

その5曲目の「Who Cares」のミュージックビデオが公開されました!!


シングルカットされた「I Don't Know」と「Come On To Me」は、

いずれもポールが登場しなかったんで残念でしたが、

今回はポールの演技が見られます(^^)/

しかも相手役はエマ・ストーン!!

ミュージックビデオの仕上がりもかなり面白いものになっています♪

なお、昨日からメイキングも公開されています!!




ちなみにポールの公式LINEによれば、

この曲は若い人たちに向けて歌ったもので、

いじめられている人たちに勇気を与えることを目指したらしいです。

55年前、12月22日のブライアンジョーンズ

1963年12月22日。

セントメアリーズホール（パットニー）での公演。

曲目などは不明。

その時に前座を務めたのがThe Detours（ザ・ディトゥアーズ）。

後にThe Detoursのドラマーはストーンズについてこう述べている。

「ミック・ジャガーはとても感じが良かった。ブライアン・ジョーンズもいい奴で、ディトゥワーズのことをとても褒めてくれ、手助けできることがあったら何でもすると申し出てくれた」

このThe Detoursこそ、のちのThe Who。

ストーンズについて語ったドラマーこそ、キースムーンである。
