Donation

This month,  torrential rain hit western part of Honshu-Ireland.  There must be something to do with global warming in recent years. I really felt sorry for those who suffered from the attack.

Since I was honored the decoration in this spring from Emperor or Prime minister, I wanted to do something to commemorate the occasion  other than binge parties. I decided to donate cash to those suffer from it. I donated 1 million yen through Japan Red Cross to those victims of this incident.

Every disaster has a name itself. According to the receipt I accepted  from the Red Cross of Japan. It said the disaster as "7月豪雨災害”　or torrential rain　disaster　in June. I hope people there can get back on their feet soon. I also thank that I was not a victim of this rain.

Decoration

I was honored a decoration from Emperor Akihito. The official anouncement was made on April 29th. Handing of the decoration was done on May 11th at the Supreme court. Then honorees were taken to Imperial Palace for an audience with Empoeror Akihito.

It is called Zuihotannkosho or "The Order of The Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays". I was honored it because I worked as a mediation officer at local civil and family courts for around 20 years.

I will write details on the event later.

語彙力テストを紹介します

Vocabulary Test

As a learner of English, I usually use LDCE or Longman Dictinary of Contemporary English, Random house English Japanese dictinary and Kenkyusha Dictinary of English collocations. Those dictionaries are installed inside my laptop computer. When I can not find the word out of these Dictinaries, I use Dictionaries on the Web. Weblio is one of these Website dictionaris. I found a section called "Vocabulary Test" in it. Out of my curiosity, I tried it, I foud it ...a little addictive because the score changes every time you try it. So far,  three days have past, I tried it about 20 times. The Highest score I got was 174. The score belongs to   54th among the participants. And estimated vocabulary is around 17000.
The result varies every time I tried it, that is the reason it is a little addictive.

I become curious about my vocabulary, I took another test the website below.

This test is a little boring but I think this test gives me more objective test result. According to the latter test, my estimated Vocabulary was around 15500.

Those two tests takes only couple of minutes, Why don't you take the tests, I bet you would be addicted to it.

Impulse Buying

I happend to fix our local garbage storage which sit on the road

near my house.

To fix it, first I bought a Welding machine and a Plasma cutting machine.

I found it interesting to weld steel togeather and to create new things.

After I completed the renewing work.

I had hard time carrying it to the proper place.

No neighbors helped me to set it to the right place,

only my son and wife helped me to do the task.

I felt it would be a great help if I had a Folklift,. After I finished the work.

Internet advertisements seduced me by saying that used folklifts are

cheap and car tax free as long as I use them inside private premises.

So I ended up buying one which is about 9 year old Toyota.

It steers rear tires and the engine drives front wheels, as a result,

driving feelings are totally differnt.

I think it takes a lot to get used to it.

I feel guilty of buying it.

Blame me and Blame the internet Ad.

御嶽山 田の原 雷鳥

木曽の御嶽山に行ってきました。8月4日のことです。

８月３日午後５時半桐生を出発、高速道路を走り、午後１１時３０分頃田の原駐車場に到着、三人で行きましたので、私は車の脇にテントを張り、KさんとT君は車内で仮眠しました。午前３時頃出発しました。初めての３０００メーター級の山ですので、少しばかり緊張しました。

田の原（約２０００メートル）→金剛童子→大江権現→奥の院→剣が峰（３０６７メートル）と登りました。道路は整備されているものの、火山性の岩が沢山あり、足元は歩きやすいとは言いにくい山でした。

途中、９合目付近で雷鳥が三羽現れ、３０分ほど一緒に遊びました。結局、山頂到着は出発から４時間後の午前７時頃でした。

登り初めて一時間少々で東の空が明るくなりました。

そこから約３０分ほどして、中央不動を過ぎたあたりで雷鳥が現れました。

 

 

王滝口頂上に着いた頃は完全にガスって視界は最悪でした。

 

帰りの道も足場が悪く登りと同じくらいきつい道中でした。

田ノ平登山口に到着は１１時頃でした。

鳥居の脇に飲み物の露天がありました。そこで飲んだ「はちみつレモン」は格別に美味しかったです。
